“A Thanksgiving tablescape is so much more than creating something that is aesthetically beautiful,” explained Abigail Dixon of Bella Vie Event Company. Our vision for the covershoot was a composition of layers, rich autumn golds and reds, an eclectic mix of pieces resulting in a colorful mosaic of this fall.
Before a single flower was arranged or candle was lit, there was the table itself. The handcrafted table provided by Heirloom Wood Studio became our first canvas, bringing its own warmth, character and natural beauty to the setting. Rather than covering it, we built around what was already there, allowing the craftsmanship of the wood to become part of the tablescape itself.
1. Creating Intentional Spaces
“What you craft for your table on this specific holiday should make everyone who gathers there feel warm and instantly like they belong,” says Abigail. Warm autumnal colors can help create that feeling from the moment guests arrive."
2. The Energy of the Setting
Flowers, candles, vintage goblets and table runners create an atmosphere for giving thanks over a beautiful meal and the company surrounding it.
3. The Art of Making Guests Feel Special and Comfortable
“The art is in creating not just a table, but an environment…an experience,” Abigail believes. Handwritten name tags and beautiful menu cards add a personal touch.
4. Mixing and Matching Details
Use the table as your creative canvas, layering it with color, fall décor and mix-and-match candle holders while allowing the wood beneath to remain visible. Place candles where their light can kiss the wine and water glasses.
5. Seasonal Touches
Dried fruit slices, handcrafted name tags with gold twine and cream-colored napkins complement rich autumn shades of gold, burgundy, burnt orange, red and yellow.
Start with something beautiful, then let everything else build from it.
