Add Fall Fragrances
For fall, I love fragrances with woodsy notes—think sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, frankincense, or cypress and the like. Our personal favorite is the Aspen Bay Reserves’ Sueded Tobacco hand-poured candle. Its fragrance notes are tobacco leaves, vanilla, and brown sugar. Truly divine! I’ll warn you now, they cost more than your average candle but are powerful, long-lasting and worth every penny.
Branch Out
During the summer months, a fresh floral arrangement makes an appearance on kitchen countertops. However Fall is a much busier season for families with school, ballgames, travel, etc. and there isn’t much time to tend to the flowers to make them last. Instead replace your floral arrangement with a rustic branch centerpiece which invites a bit of the outdoors in.
Mums the Word
Mums are a beautiful low-cost substitute for a coffee table centerpiece. Keep it simple by grabbing an inexpensive, ready-made bouquet from your local grocer, plop into a pretty vase and you’re done.
Toss in a Throw
Nothing says snuggle up or cuddle down like a textural throw blanket. Fur, faux or otherwise, evokes warmth and adds visual interest to even the most lackluster sofa. Consider a chunky cable knit throw to help keep the chill off your bones.
Turn Up the Heat with a Touch of Red
This living room’s overall color palette leaned into spring until a healthy dose of red was introduced into the ethereal mix. A little red goes a long way. Think red lipstick! Adding the red chairs and custom throw pillows provides the warmth needed to usher this room into a new season.
Add Warmth with Organic Elements
Reclaimed pieces of wood like this cocktail table instantly brings a casual air into this media room. Depending on the size, furniture made from reclaimed wood is not only affordable, but is also durable, and will almost always hold its value.
Though the living room updates are few, the sum total of them together are guaranteed to make you want to sip a warm cup of cider or enjoy a fireside chat with friends.
