I started Soft Serenity Candle Company in the midst of the government shutdown to make ends meet. I always wanted to start my own business, and with my extra downtime, while being out of work, this was the perfect time to start. Many candles you buy in-store are toxic for you and your home. My goal was to provide a safe and non-toxic alternative for your homes and workspaces.
What makes a Soft Serenity candle unique?
Soft Serenity Candle Company is unique because it started during a government shutdown and took off! Our candles stand out from others because they are truly clean. They are clean-burning, made of 100% natural soy wax, asthma-friendly and allergy-friendly. They are made with no dyes, paraffin and phthalate free and they are hand poured in small batches to ensure the best quality burn.
Describe your inspiration behind the brand.
My inspiration for my branding came from the candles themselves. I hand-pour the candles in small batches with clean ingredients- 100% natural soy wax, cotton wicks and non-toxic high-quality fragrance oils. I wanted the “look” of my candles to represent just that- clean and serene.
What are some things you have learned through opening your own business?
I have learned a lot through the process of being a business owner! The biggest lesson I have learned is that it’s okay to fail. Failure is a good thing. Failure helped me learn what I needed to do to make my brand and candles better.
Describe the candle-making process.
The candle-making process is so fun and therapeutic for me! It does take a lot of work initially to find and formulate the perfect “formula” to blend the soy wax and fragrance oils. It is tedious and time-consuming, from cleaning every jar one by one, wicking jars, centering wicks and pouring wax to smoothing out the tops of the candles. There is so much love that goes behind creating these candles.
What are some of your favorite scents?
My current favorite scents are Cinnamon + Vanilla, Apple + Maple Bourbon and Pumpkin Chai. They’re the perfect scents for this fall season!
Tell us about your latest candle collection.
Our latest candle collection consists of 17 cozy + warm fall fragrances! There is a scent for everyone in this collection; whether you like woodsy, sweet, masculine or spice- you can find something anyone will love.
We are currently working on choosing our scents for our Holiday Collection that will launch this month. You can find the official launch date for our Holiday Collection via our Instagram or Facebook Page.
