Patrick Boylan is a local land surveyor that stepped out on his own January of 2021 and hasn't looked back. He has grown a flourishing business in Aiken and reflects on his fondness for the city since moving here in 2014. "Aiken is such a wonderful place to live. It’s a great small-town that has so many things to offer. It’s been a place that’s extremely easy to call home."
We asked him to share some lessons he's learned through this endeavor and he gave some insightful advice about the importance of rest as a small business owner. "I was warned that when you work for yourself, you become your worst boss." While it can be tempting to work all hours of the day and night for your business, Boylan has learned that the healthiest thing for you and your business is to maintain a balance with work and personal life and to manage your time wisely.
Patrick's passion for what he does is visible through everything that he says and does. He remarks that one of his favorite things about his business is getting to spend so much time outdoors in beautiful Aiken, South Carolina. He is excited to continue to grow his business and challenge himself with bigger and bigger projects.
The Yard Barbers are your one stop shop for lawn maintenance. They keep your lawn looking sharp and also specialize in fence and gate installations. Harvey Holloway and Oscar Brown started their family oriented business alongside their wives, Kristi and Destiny. They had a dream to take their skills and use them to create a business they were passionate about. Their vision to be family focused and to make an impact for generations to come is evident in everything they do. You'll often find family members, young and old, working with them at job sites. And those that are not blood are treated like such as a part of The Yard Barber family. It is a special thing to witness.
The Yard Barbers are passionate about growing the local economy, doing their part to shop and hire locally, and are big proponents of "shopping small." They love Aiken and being a small part of making it beautiful. "Not only will you get the best product, but you'll get a piece of us in every job that we do." Their goal is to continue to grow and become the CSRA's number one lawn and fence company because of their outstanding customer service and high quality services.
Eric Rickenbach has been an expert plumber for over thirty years and stepped out on his own this year to build Enterprise Plumbing LLC. He wanted to get back to the basics, provide the highest quality service for his customers based on his years of expertise, and have time for his family. With Eric being a third generation plumber, it practically runs in his blood!
While he is indescribably knowledgable about plumbing, his favorite part of what he does is building relationships. He loves to learn and remember new things about his customers, and he takes his pride in being able to help make their lives easier. Eric also loves to work alongside his wife and sons, making them the fourth generation in the family business. Enterprise Plumbing LLC is expanding day by day and they have amazing plans for it's continued impact in the city of Aiken.
