4 Simple Habits that will Improve Your Mental Health
Every positive change happens incrementally. Here are 4 ways to nudge yourself in the right direction for better mental health through 2025.
1) Be intentional at the mirror. Ever notice what you do in the mirror? A lot of people ignore their reflection, or they scrutinize and judge. What a way to start off: rejected.
Treat your reflection as someone who needs your support and encouragement.
2) Stop giving yourself jobs you can’t do. Stressing about what you can’t control is burning you out. Honestly assessing our capacity is scary but liberating.
Make a list of what you don’t get to decide. Here’s a start: others’ choices, how others interpret you, the economy... Take energy back from what you can’t choose.
3) Pace your ongoing projects. You’re giving all of today’s energy to work that won’t be done today. This is how we chase that elusive feeling of being “enough”—or how we hide from other parts of life. Get used to pressing “pause” in an uncomfortable place.
4) Prioritize relationships. Stop leaving community for last.
Meaningful connection improves outcomes in all aspects of life. The people who bring out the best in you—make time for them. Stop saying “There’s something more productive I could be doing”. That excuse will always be there. For a more in depth dive, make sure to check out Come Back Story Counseling's Blog!
