Tim Chew

The future of non-profit and cause-driven organization fundraising is changing.

It’s becoming harder and harder to find large amount single donors or local, private sector benefactors.

Development directors have been forced to get more creative in the ways they generate support. "Traditional classic fundraisers like golf tournaments and galas will always have a place, but often aren’t enough. New crowd-sourcing fundraisers have become more popular," says Tim Chew of Amplifier Fundraising. "Online contests, sweepstakes, and social media engagements that allow a larger number of people to donate smaller amounts are becoming more successful."

Politics aside, Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns raised more than $85 million with donations of $20 or less. "It was incredibly eye-opening to see the possibilities of micro-donations and the impact they can have on causes," says Tim.

"We’re seeing more retailers offering customers the choice to 'round up' transactions, with that amount donated to a local charity," he notes.

And of course, the granddaddy of all micro-donation fundraising is The Salvation Army Kettles. A staple of the holiday season, the kettle drives raised over $150 million last season alone with the majority of donations at $5 or less.

The power of the crowd is becoming more evident in the world of cause-driven fundraising and it will be exciting to see what new innovations the future holds. AmplifierFundraising.org

Rickey Lamitie

Rickey Lamitie came to Naples 10 years ago from Aspen to outfit members of exclusive golf clubs. His custom golf slacks were offered as the Tee Prize at Old Collier Golf Club and his team measured more than 100 men for custom slacks. “My 10-day trip turned into five months and then I opened the retail store at 281 Broad Ave. S. in 2012. We just celebrated our tenth year in Naples and we extended our lease for another 10 years,” says Rickey. He now spends five summer months in Aspen. “I enjoy dressing our clients appropriately for the different settings of their lives."

“I created a golf component 16 years ago. I've done business all over the country through the top golf clubs. I've also dressed many of the PGA Tour players. This is what originally opened up the Naples market for us, but the quality lifestyle and demographics are what really catapulted our success here.”

Rickey dresses many of the most influential men in our community for charity events and completes their personal daily and work wardrobes.

This season, he and his designers and tailors are again building bespoke apparel for clients. “Style is a function of time and location as well as the individual personalities of our clients,” he says. “We build individual paper patterns for each client and help them create the image they want."

“Our tag line is 'If you can dream it, we can make it.’ We design custom jeans, western shirts, casual linen shirts, dress shirts, golf slacks and shorts, polos, dinner jackets, tuxedos, suits sport coats, bomber jackets, leather, and suede shirts and jackets.”
