With the Covid-19 crisis keeping many people working and attending school from home, creating a comfortable environment takes center stage. Enter The Sofa Guy—a Thousand Oaks-based design firm where Owner Paul Trent and his talented staff help customers design the perfect living space to fit their unique style and needs.
Offering custom builds of furniture and sofas for more than two decades, The Sofa Guy aims to please.
“We doa lot of customization,” says Paul. “We can create a piece from an image out of magazines or off of the internet to create the ideal piece to fit our client’s comfort level and design aesthetic.”
Embodying a “transitional and fashion forward" style, The Sofa Guy offers a wide variety of products to fit almost any budget. In addition to their signature sofas, they sell furnishings for the living room, dining room and office; home accessories; lighting and area rugs.
And their services don’t stop there.
“People need help with more than just sofas,” says Paul, adding, “We do entire homes, from five-story beachfront properties to condos. We collaborate with clients to design spaces, such as bedrooms, living rooms and even a family movie theater!”
The Sofa Guy’s experienced and skilled staff offer consultations via phone, FaceTime or private appointments as they follow the current Covid-19 guidelines.
“Our main concern is the health of our clients and staff, balanced with a desire to serve our community by ensuring the comfort of our clients’ homes,” says Paul.
Expressing gratitude for their clients and the local community that has continued to keep them in business, even during hard times, Paul notes that building relationships is the foundation of The Sofa Guy’s service.
“Clients end up being more like a long-term friendship,” he says. “We have built relationships with entire families who return again and again. Our best advertising is the word-of-mouth referrals we get from clients who send us their family members and friends.”
Paul and his staff especially enjoy engaging in the creative process with clients.
“My favorite part is nurturing that first creative spark!” shares Paul, noting that inspiration can strike at any time.
“You’ll be talking or driving and a spark of ideas hits you, and I think, ‘How can I help develop this idea into a perfect fit for my client’s needs?’ To engage the imagination and go from a stick drawing and then see it come to fruition with a beautifully furnished room… It's so satisfying and fun; we really enjoy it!”
