Facet (noun): one side of something many-sided, especially of a cut gem.

Originally founded in 1991 in a small shop in Amelia, Facet Jewelry, Music & Pawn moved to its larger 15,000 square-foot Amelia location in 1998—then built a second 13,000 square-foot store in Milford in 2008, a stone’s throw away from the bustling big-box stores and restaurants off that familiar 275 exit.

While they have a loyal fanbase of repeat customers, newbies often have questions about the ins-and-outs of real-life pawnshops.

“Our approach is very personable and relaxed … we enjoy our customers—many of them have been shopping with us for years,” says Jamie Stowell, Facet’s district manager. “Over the years, we’ve gotten to know them and their families, and they’ve gotten to know us. I feel a lot of places have lost their personal touch with their customers, but that makes us who we are.”

Facet prides itself on being a financial institution that offers helpful financial resources as well as merchandise and jewelry servicing. They employ three full-time jewelers boasting more than 140 years of combined experience.

“We started as a family-owned jewelry store,” Jamie smiles. “Many people are surprised to find we do on-site jewelry repair—we did almost 3,000 repairs in 2021! Every piece of jewelry in our showcase has been thoroughly cleaned, polished, inspected and restored to like-new condition.”

“We take pride in our jewelry work,” she continues. “With the hope of taking care of one generation to the next.”

Best of all, they welcome and encourage people to visit and see what Facet is all about. “We’re not like scary pawnshops portrayed in the movies,” Jamie finishes. “We have over 10,000 items in inventory and it changes daily—you never know what you’re going to find!”
