Sounds of Summer

Enjoy Live Music for the Whole Family This Summer in Mason and Deerfield

Summer is the time when everyone feels like soaking up the sun and being social. Plus, families are on the lookout for new activities to occupy everyone during summer vacation. Don’t worry! This season, Mason and Deerfield have you covered with Red, Rhythm and Boom, Music in Mason, the Kid-Friendly Concert series and Kidchella.

July will truly be a month of music in Mason and Deerfield, kicking off on July 3 with the annual Red, Rhythm and Boom celebration. This year, the festival will feature national touring acts Daughtry and Echosmith. Music in Mason concerts will be held throughout July and August at the Mason Downtown Plaza and the CourseView Restaurant.

Every Wednesday in July, Deerfield Towne Center will be hosting the Kid-Friendly Concert series on the outdoor stage. This series will feature some of the best children’s entertainers from the region and provide opportunities for both children and adults to join in on the fun. If your family enjoys these concerts, make sure to also check out the Kidchella music festival at Cottell Park Aug. 11.

Take advantage of these great outdoor music festivities this summer!

Michael Christopher crafts country-rock in the contemporary spirit of Dierks Bentley, Toby Kieth, Kenny Chesney and Jason Aldean. "We play all over the map at every event imaginable, but this is our type of show,” Christopher says of the Music in Mason concert series. “We feed off the audience and what they want. If they want Johnny Cash, we'll play Johnny Cash. If they want Garth Brooks or Luke Bryan, we can play it all. We love what we do, and we can't wait to bring the party to Mason!"

The Shazzbots offer a unique children’s musical experience. “We play upbeat original music of all styles and encourage the kiddos (and parents) to dance and clap and stomp,” says bandleader Ian Hummel, aka “Captain Captain.” The Shazzbots are known for their three-time Emmy award-winning TV show and a unique live show including puppets, elaborate stage designs and matching jumpsuits. Hot off the release of their newest album, Lightspeed!, the Shazzbots will be performing as part of the Kid-Friendly Concert Series.

Scotty Bratcher began playing guitar at the tender age of 2 and has never looked back. Taking early inspiration from guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn, Scotty’s music is steeped in the sound of vintage electric blues. “Some of the greatest music that ever happened was in the '60s and '70s,” he says.” As a writer and a guitar player, that’s what I pull from.” Though Scotty is still a young musician in the early stages of his career, he has already shared the stage with an impressive list of artists including Blue Oyster Cult, Buddy Guy, Foghat, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa and many others.
