For Chante’ Carter, opening her own spa was a dream she’s had since she was a little girl—and even a pandemic couldn’t keep her from achieving her goals. Introduced to the healing benefits of massage at age 10 while helping her grandmother recover from a stroke, she realized that self-care shouldn’t be just a luxury for the few, but a necessity for the many—for both mental and physical health.
Following graduation from massage therapy school in 2011, Chante’ worked for a few massage chains—they weren’t for her. And after opening her own business in 2018, she realized she wanted to expand her services. Together with her business partner and friend, Philiyano Watson, they opened Le’ Reign Luxury Salon & Spa this past fall to include two sides—one for “quiet” services like massage and body sculpting, and one for “loud” like hair, nails and lashes.
“When people hear ‘spa’ they get intimidated—thinking it’s something they may not be able to afford or that it should only be for special occasions,” Chante’ explains. “It’s so important to me that our current and future clients know we want to provide a luxury ambiance, but with a family and friend experience.”
