It’s official: this fall is all about colors, flowing pant cuts, layering and shackets (last season’s favorite oversized shirt-jacket hybrid)—and wearing them all in creative new ways.
“Get ready for tons of shackets—but different variations of them this year,” says Lori Avallone, owner of Mainstream Boutique. “Denim is moving away from skinnies and moving toward flair and wide-leg styles. Faux leather, suede items, bright colors—all are more popular this fall.” Think big, bright and bold, layering and color blocking. “All of these items are going to be worn together.”
According to Wendy Knight, owner of Lemons and Limes Boutique, Aztec prints in both apparel and accessories are also in. “We’re going to see ivory, peachy beiges and lots of bright colors like golden yellow, emerald green and neon orange. Look for houndstooth and some punchy plaids—and don't be surprised to see them mixed with bold florals. Dust off that amazing leather jacket in your closet, too—that’s a staple for this season.”
The mood has shifted on ready-to-wear—consider it your license to shop. Lori agrees, “Now is a time in fashion when anything goes!”
