Spreading Joy & Inspiring Confidence

Local homeschool mom blends faith and fashion to encourage women

As a homeschool mom, Faith Dixon finds her days filled with teaching and guiding her three sons through school and extracurricular activities. Recently, she added book author and women’s boutique owner to her life journey as well. Through the boutique and the devotional, Faith encourages women to be confident as they go about daily life.

“It's always been a dream of mine to have my own boutique and sell clothes,” shares Faith. “I really enjoy fashion and love putting outfits together.  I also like to make people feel good and I think sometimes when you have a cute outfit, you feel better.”

To make that dream come to fruition, Faith partnered with Tracie Allen to open RagHouse Boutique. “Our initial thought was to run the boutique in a big bonus room above Tracie’s garage and that is where we held our grand opening,” says Faith. “Then we started doing pop-ups and we really enjoy going out in the community and being part of all the different markets and meeting people.”

Faith describes the boutique’s style as classy chic. “We have some different, funkier pieces that we pair with classier, old money style clothing. We like to mix it up and make it fun,” she says. “We also know that everybody has a different style and look. So, we love putting outfits together, making them fit the person, and figuring out how to make them feel confident.”

The boutique carries an assortment of casual dresses, jeans, tops, and accessories. Pieces are chosen with a mix and match philosophy so that ladies can create their own look, such as pairing fun boutique tops with sophisticated clean-line pants.

RagHouse Boutique’s online store allows shoppers access to the collection at any time. For ladies who prefer to shop in-person, the best way to know where RagHouse Boutique will be for the next pop-up is to check social media. “We usually advertise on Instagram and Facebook where we're going to be each week,” says Faith. “If someone is interested in hosting us, just send us a message letting us know you’d like for us to come and do a pop-up event.”

This fall, Faith also published a devotional book for homeschooling moms that she hopes will provide encouragement along the journey. In the devotional, Homeschooling on Purpose, Faith uses humor and personal experience to encourage moms as they navigate the daily challenges and rewards of homeschooling.

“When I started homeschooling about four years ago, I felt very alone and was not really sure what I was doing. There is definitely a learning curve and you're trying to figure all this out. As I talked to other moms, I realized just how overwhelming it can be for many people. I felt like God was showing me some things that homeschool moms struggle with, whether it be confidence in what you're teaching or finding other homeschool moms to just be with and encourage. So, I just started writing and before I knew it, I had 31 days,” shares Faith. “In the process, God had been showing me some things about what a privilege and honor it is to be able to homeschool as well as how fun and rewarding it can be for your family and for your children.”

Whether it is through RagHouse Boutique or Homeschooling On Purpose, Faith has a special message for women everywhere. “When I was younger, I spent many years second guessing myself, wondering if I was doing the right thing or what God was asking me to do,” she says. “I want to help women feel confident in themselves, to empower women to embrace who God created them to be, and to encourage them to walk confidently in their purpose.”
