St. Francis House is a locally operated nonprofit supporting women, families, and children experiencing homelessness in Gainesville and Alachua County. Through three core programs, the organization meets critical needs for vulnerable community members. St. Francis House provides temporary shelter for single women and families with children. Arbor House offers transitional housing for low-income women and mothers with children. Day Services ensures that individuals in need receive meals and support daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
At the heart of every program is a commitment to helping guests build stability and achieve self-sufficiency. Services include case management, nutritious meals, essential needs, community resource connections, and compassionate support from caring staff. In the past five years, St. Francis House has assisted more than 3,100 people, served over 357,000 meals, and helped more than 200 families—including 500 children—secure safe, permanent housing. Remarkably, 95% of those families remain stably housed after one year.
