Support Groups Provide Online Support During Coronavirus Period

Self-isolating was necessary from a public and personal health standpoint during the COVID-19 pandemic, however, that step put a dent in many of the ways that people typically gather to support one another emotionally. At press time, many groups were attempting to establish alternative ways to virtually assist others. In the meantime, Chesterfield Lifestyle assembled the following list in hopes it will help.

Beginning March 23, National Alliance on Mental Illness St. Louis professionals offered Online Basic Support Group using the videoconferencing app Zoom. Contact the NAMI St. Louis Helpline at 314.962.4670 for more information or visit online NAMISTL.org.

OTHER RESOURCES FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT:

  1. Contact the Missouri Crisis Line for help at 888.761.4357 or text “HAND” to 839863.
  2. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services hotline can be reached at 877.435.8411.
  3. St. Louis County created a website dedicated to the dissemination of information relating to COVID-19, STLCorona.com
  4. Postpartum/New Mama's Support Group; call 573.279.0939.
  5. Mindfulness-Based CBT Social Anxiety Support; call 314.207.3597.
  6. Adult Support and Psychoeducational Group, dial 636.333.1097.

If or when feeling overwhelmed, there are free resources available to help through this difficult time.
