It’s just before noon at Sear Steakhouse in Rockwall, and Executive Director Mandy Mendenhall is juggling a lunch reservation, checking emails, and preparing for the night’s private event. The steakhouse has a full calendar, and by fall, there’s rarely an empty day.
“We fill up fast,” she says, laughing. “Some of our regulars are already booking into next year!”
Since opening its doors in 2020, Sear has carved out a niche as more than just a fine dining restaurant. Its private events like rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, and charity fundraisers have become a core part of what the steakhouse offers the community.
“We wanted to create a place where people could gather, celebrate, and connect,” Mendenhall says. “That was always the goal, and I think we’ve done that.”
At the heart of it all is a private dining space that seats up to 55 guests with lake views, custom-printed menus, and AV setup. Guests control their music, mic, and projector, making it a good fit for business presentations and toasts.
“Our goal is to take the stress off,” she says. “You walk in, and everything’s already handled.”
Corporate dinners are the most popular event at the restaurant. However, Sear regularly partners with local nonprofits like the Children’s Advocacy Center of Rockwall County, hosting annual events like Bourbon with the Boys, which pair curated spirits with fundraising. The restaurant also hosts its own events monthly, like mahjong tournaments, wine blending classes, and more.
“We’re constantly hosting something," Mendenhall says.
For those planning a private gathering, Sear offers menu options ranging from $75 to $110 per person, and a food and beverage minimum instead of a room fee—$1,900 on weeknights, $3,900 on weekends.
