What began with one embroidery machine and a mother’s creative vision has blossomed into a personalized fashion and gifting brand where every detail tells a story.
Some of the most meaningful businesses begin with a simple wish to create something that doesn’t yet exist.
For Greenwich entrepreneur Daniella, that moment arrived during maternity leave with her daughter, Aria. Searching for personalized clothing that felt stylish, timeless and thoughtfully designed, she discovered a gap between traditional monogramming and the elevated pieces she envisioned.
Rather than settle, she bought an embroidery machine and taught herself how to use it.
The result was Ari Apparel, a brand named for her daughter that has grown from a creative outlet into a destination for personalized apparel, accessories, gifting and custom embroidery experiences.
“I wanted pieces that people would genuinely love wearing or using, whether they were personalized or not,” Daniella explains.
A Personal Beginning
Building Ari Apparel while continuing her full-time corporate career required creativity, determination and a willingness to learn as she went.
What started with designs for herself and Aria gained momentum when Daniella began sharing her work on Instagram. Customers connected with her fresh interpretation of personalization, and word of mouth helped transform a passion project into a growing business.
Today, the Ari Apparel aesthetic is unmistakable: classic silhouettes, playful details, beautiful color combinations and embroidery that enhances rather than overwhelms.
“I’m very particular about colors, fonts, fabrics and placement because those small decisions can completely change how a personalized piece feels,” she says.
Her approach extends to quality. Daniella carefully tests fabrics, garments and accessories, believing that something made to commemorate a special memory should be enjoyed long after the occasion has passed.
More Than a Monogram
For Daniella, embroidery has always been about connection.
A destination stitched onto a sweatshirt can recall a favorite vacation. A child’s name can transform an everyday accessory into a keepsake. A thoughtful gift can celebrate a milestone in a way that feels entirely personal.
“A name, date, destination, initials or even a small embroidered symbol can immediately connect you to a person or memory,” she shares.
That philosophy has inspired Ari Apparel’s expansion beyond its original collections. Today, Daniella creates custom gifts, branded merchandise for businesses, wholesale pieces and personalized apparel for celebrations, schools and special occasions.
One of the most exciting additions is live embroidery, which brings the creative process directly to private gatherings and corporate events.
Guests select their designs and watch as their pieces are personalized on-site, transforming an ordinary gift into an interactive experience.
“Instead of someone simply receiving a finished product, I get to bring the personalization experience directly to them,” Daniella explains. “It’s interactive and memorable.”
Growing With Greenwich
Although Ari Apparel now reaches customers through a variety of channels, its Greenwich roots remain central to its identity.
Local referrals, schools, businesses and community events have helped introduce Daniella’s designs to new audiences while inspiring collaborations and custom projects.
“Being based in Greenwich has also pushed me creatively because people here really appreciate quality, personalization and beautiful details,” she says.
And despite the company’s growth, some of her proudest moments remain wonderfully simple: spotting someone wearing an Ari Apparel creation or welcoming a returning customer celebrating another milestone.
“There are so many places people can shop, so having someone continue to choose my small business is something I never take for granted.”
The Beauty of Building Something Your Own
Looking ahead, Daniella envisions Ari Apparel becoming a go-to destination for elevated personalization, with expanded live embroidery experiences, creative collaborations and more exclusive designs.
But the heart of the business will remain unchanged.
“I never want Ari Apparel to become so big that it loses the attention to detail and connection that made people love it in the first place.”
For other women dreaming of turning a creative idea into something more, Daniella offers advice shaped by her own journey: “Start before everything is perfect.”
It’s a philosophy that has carried her from a single embroidery machine during maternity leave to a growing brand with seemingly endless possibilities.
And perhaps that’s what makes Ari Apparel so special. Behind every carefully placed stitch is more than a design. There’s a mother’s inspiration, an entrepreneur’s vision and the belief that the smallest details can carry the greatest meaning.
