Bellevue Lifestyle had the pleasure of chatting with Kerri Roberts this month, the visionary owner of Main Street Pilates, to learn more about her journey and the inspiration behind her studio. From her passion for holistic wellness to her commitment to creating an inclusive Pilates community, Kerri shares how her approach transforms lives—one movement at a time.
What inspired you to open Main Street Pilates, and what vision do you have for the studio?
I opened Main Street Pilates to share the transformative benefits of Pilates and create a space where people could connect with both their bodies and minds. My vision is to build a supportive community where everyone—regardless of fitness level—can experience the strength, flexibility, and mental well-being that Pilates offers.
We’re deeply committed to providing excellent instruction and staying true to the principles of the Pilates method, ensuring that each client receives the best possible experience. Pilates isn’t just about physical movement; it’s about reducing stress, building confidence, and finding balance. Our goal is to inspire lifelong wellness through the practice of Pilates.
How does your approach to Pilates support clients of all fitness levels?
At Main Street Pilates, we believe Pilates is truly for everyone—whether you’re stepping onto the Reformer for the very first time or you’re a seasoned practitioner with countless classes under your belt. Our sessions are carefully designed to meet each client where they are, tailoring movements and modifications to suit any fitness level.
Our focus on foundational techniques ensures that everyone moves safely while building strength, flexibility, and balance at their own pace. With our team of highly experienced instructors—many with over a decade of teaching expertise—we pride ourselves on creating a supportive, inclusive environment where all clients can progress confidently on their Pilates journey. Whether you prefer the energy of a group class or the individualized attention of a private session, we have the perfect option to help you reach your full potential.
Can you share a signature class or movement that sets Main Street Pilates apart?
Our signature class, Reformer Flow, takes classical Pilates to the next level by seamlessly blending traditional sequences with contemporary creativity. What makes this class shine is its integration of props like the magic circle, spine corrector, foam roller, and resistance bands, transforming familiar movements into dynamic, full-body challenges.
This class is designed to engage the core while incorporating fluid, precise movements that test stability, endurance, and overall control. It’s perfect for clients seeking to deepen their practice, with choreography that adapts to every fitness level. Whether you’re new to Pilates or an advanced practitioner, Reformer Flow offers a uniquely versatile and transformative workout experience.
How have small class sizes impacted your clients' experiences and progress?
Our intentionally small class sizes—capped at just six participants—allow us to offer an experience that feels personal, focused, and deeply engaging. With fewer clients per class, our instructors can provide individualized guidance, detailed corrections, and hands-on adjustments that help clients master techniques while minimizing the risk of injury.
Many of our clients share that this personalized approach not only enhances their physical progress but also creates a sense of community and connection. The result is a supportive studio environment where motivation and consistency thrive, making their Pilates practice both effective and enjoyable.
What advice do you have for those looking to incorporate Pilates into their wellness routine?
For anyone starting their Pilates journey, we recommend starting with a beginners class or private session to build a strong understanding of the basics. Consistency is key, so aiming for two to three sessions a week can yield significant improvements in strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness.
Most importantly, approach Pilates with an open mind and a little patience. This isn’t just about intense workouts—it’s about mastering the Principles of Pilates: control, alignment, and intentional breathing. Beyond the physical benefits, Pilates can enhance posture, reduce stress, and promote a deeper sense of well-being, making it a meaningful addition to any wellness routine.
