Stretching Is As Important As Cardio & Weightlifting

Stretch U Helps Bodies Stay Limber, Healthy

Many find themselves between a rock and a hard place when it comes to one's own physical well-being. The rock is what you can do, and the hard place is what you want to do.

During my weight lifting and cardio sessions throughout the week, I know I should stretch and do yoga, but I made the excuse that I don't have time to add 15-30 minutes for stretching on a mat.

Stretch U has become my lifeline out of this particular rock and a hard place. Stretch U provides one-on-one, full-body stretches in increments of 20, 40, or 60-minute sessions. According to Kylie A., Business Development Manager for Stretch U, ”The ideal client is anyone who is looking to improve the way they feel and move. Our clients range from youth athletes to senior citizens with the most common demographic being office workers in their 40's-50's with lower back pain from sitting for long hours.”

Two main techniques used during the sessions: The Carey Stretch and Lock & Stretch.

Physical Therapist John Carey, founder and owner ,created the Carey Stretch, a systematic one-on-one stretching technique. According to the website (StretchU.com): "The Carey Stretch includes: PNF stretching (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), a contract and relax technique for the lower extremities, passive stretching for the upper extremities, and neural flossing, a specialized way of easing neural tension in different parts of the body."

The second technique is Lock & Stretch, focusing on releasing tension and increasing circulation through the body by locking down your fascia while stretching different muscles.

I do not fully understand some of the science mentioned above. I know the benefits I have received by making a minimum of a 40-minute session a weekly routine. I leave each session feeling relaxed, limber, and energized.

The technicians at Stretch U are some of the best people I have met and are incredibly passionate about what they do. Stretch U has four locations in the Oklahoma City Metro, in Nichols Hills, Edmond, Yukon, and Norman. Booking sessions are easy and user-friendly when using their app.
