From The Mountains To The MET

Where Fine Art & Fashion Collide

Colorado State University's top-tier department of Design and Merchandising generates a wealth of talent, this year we'd like to introduce you to the work of two of these students.

Latifah Hirchi-Vogl - As a finalist in the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET) Costume Institute College Fashion Design Competition in New York City, Hirchi-Vogl's work is clearly ready for the runway. With a strong work ethic and love for experimentation, there's no telling where her designs will appear next.

"I am inspired by the way fashion allows people to be creative, both artistically and through self-expression."

Cynthia Rodriguez - Currently working on a New York Fashion Week collection as a part of her internship with LAVNTG and designer Megan Carter, Rodriguez is on a definite upward trajectory. Her design work is inspired by the likes of Schiaparelli, Dion Lee, Alexander McQueen, and Balenciaga - to name a few - and she views fashion as a means for people to share a part of their soul with the world.

"In fashion I do not need to limit or hide who I am as a creative individual. That I am able to simply express any belief and emotion I experience into a fashion - making those non-physical traits come to life, and for the world to see through my eyes."
