In the heart of Centennial’s south metro corridor, nestled near the Museum of Outdoor Arts and Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, a creative transformation is quietly taking place. Blue Sky IDEA Studio and Gallery is more than a working studio or exhibition venue, it’s a space where art, community, and curiosity intersect.
Opened in 2022 by internationally recognized abstract artist Patricia Aaron, the gallery occupies a bright, modern space at 6412 S. Quebec Street in Greenwood Executive Park. After 25 years in a smaller Greenwood Village studio, Aaron expanded into this larger venue to accommodate her growing practice and to create a space for public engagement.
Aaron is celebrated for her vibrant, emotionally resonant encaustic paintings—a centuries-old method using warm pigmented beeswax, oil stick, and ink. Fused onto custom wood panels, her work radiates bold color, fluidity, and a luminous texture that shifts with the light. Each piece is deeply personal yet widely relatable, inspired by memories, travel, nature, and urban landscapes.
As much as her work is rooted in fine art, it also intersects beautifully with interior design. Aaron thoughtfully collaborates with clients to help them style their homes and offices, considering how her art can bring intention, emotion, and visual energy to a room. “Color is powerful,” she says. “It can change the way a space feels and how people connect to it.” Whether anchoring a living room with a statement piece or adding movement and vibrancy to a quiet hallway, Aaron’s encaustics become more than art—they become extensions of the homeowner’s personal style.
With over a dozen artist residencies and an MFA from the University of Denver, Aaron’s work has been exhibited widely across the U.S. and abroad, and collected in museums, corporations, and private homes, from Iceland and Paris to Kobe, Japan.
But Blue Sky IDEA Studio was never meant to be hers alone. Recognizing a gap in Centennial’s art scene, Aaron opened the gallery to other creatives, hosting artist talks, community meetups, and pop-up shows that showcase diverse voices and media. It has since become a cultural anchor in a growing neighborhood.
Recent exhibitions include Layers of Time (May 2025), featuring ten artists from Denver and Chicago, and For the Love of Scotland (August 2025), a curated mix of ceramics, woodwork, tapestry, and paintings from Aaron’s travels abroad. This fall, from November 12-16, the gallery will present Natural Geometries, new work by three Denver artists, including sculpture, stainless steel paintings, abstract woodblocks, and drawings.
Beyond the art on the walls, the gallery’s minimalist and inviting design makes it an ideal backdrop for intimate events—receptions, fundraisers, workshops, and creative gatherings.
Aaron’s latest solo exhibition, Making Waves, opens September 26 at SPACE Gallery on Santa Fe Drive in Denver. On view through November 8, the show reflects on themes of time, transformation, and memory, adding yet another rich layer to her ever-evolving body of work.
For anyone looking to style their home with depth, color, and soul, a visit to Blue Sky IDEA Studio offers more than inspiration, it’s a doorway to expression.
