Suburban Waste Services

Hello. My name is Daisy. I am a golden retriever. I am a dog. I am a good dog.

I am writing today about my favorite people. They are people I like. I am cute. You should pet me.

My favorite people include: my family; my neighbors; casual acquaintances; abject strangers; hardened criminals; other dogs; and inanimate objects shaped like people. I love all people. I love you.

I love my Suburban Waste Services driver very much, too. When I hear him turn down my street, I get stirred up. I dance around. I make excited noises. They are noises I make when I am excited, and I am excited because of BISCUITS. I get BISCUITS. I love BISCUITS. I love the Suburban Waste Services driver and he brings me BISCUITS.

And my family? They seem to love him also, even though they never eat BISCUITS. They are funny that way.

Daisy, Cute

Maybe a driver forgot that he’d put a Milk-Bone in his pocket earlier one morning, and handed it over to the first dog he encountered. Maybe a driver packed a bribe in hope of winning over one of his routes’ tougher cases. Maybe a driver just liked dogs, and treated dogs he knew accordingly. But at the end of the day, only one thing is certain about the origin of Suburban Waste Services’ darlingest service.

“We have no idea how it started," said Susie Scott for Suburban Waste Services. “One day, we were a homegrown mom-and-pop garbage and recycling pickup service. The next, we were all that and ‘the ice cream truck for dogs.’

“And you know what? There are a lot worse things you can be. For the price of around one-and-a-half tons of biscuits a year, we get to bring a little extra happiness to homes on our 40 or so residential routes crisscrossing the southwest metro.

“It wasn’t long until our clients started inundating us with anecdotes about their dogs’ cute reactions to our trucks. ‘His ears perk up the second he hears the engine down the block,’ and ‘We have the same biscuits at home, but he only seems to care about your biscuits!’

“Now listen. I’m the office manager for a Midwestern waste disposal and recycling business. When I tell you my job’s a laugh a minute, you’d better believe it. But all the same, nothing cracks me up harder than the photos we get of dogs sitting next to bins at the end of their driveway, patiently waiting for the best part of their day: the miraculous arrival of treats!

“That’s why we started the SWS Puppy Fan Club. It lets our clients share their pooch pics on our social media and in our company newsletter. That helps us especially, because it gives people even more reason to check out our company newsletter. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram: @SWS.Savage!

“Suburban Waste Services was founded by Paul and Katie Rosland and their friend Rick Sievers 19 years ago. It started as two drivers and a receptionist, all operating out of the Roslands’ home in Eden Prairie. It has now grown to around 50 trucks, 90 employees, and 45 routes (including commercial) spanning as far southwest as Waconia and as far northwest as Maple Grove.

“And we’re still growing! But even so, we’re nowhere near as big as any of the national, publicly traded waste management companies dominating our industry. They have budgets for crafty social media marketing campaigns. We, on the other hand, don’t, which makes us all the more grateful to have had this whole thing happen organically. Destiny called Suburban  Waste Services to the dog-pleasing business. All we had to do was answer.

“Our locally owned, locally operated touch doesn’t end with dog treats. Our personalized service begins with a phone call. You won’t reach a call center on the other side of the world, or an AI ‘receptionist’ that makes you wish you’d been born in the era of whale oil lamps. You’ll just hear a real, honest-to-gosh Minnesotan on the other end of the line.

“And they’ll genuinely want to know how we can be of help. Are you having an issue with your service? Do you need to postpone it? Would you like us to haul away your yard waste, or the old Barcalounger that’s mouldering away in your garage? Not a problem! It’ll be solved as easily as we can hand out a biscuit.”

The ultimate in residential and commercial waste pickup is at your service. Call (952) 937-8900 or visit SuburbanWasteMN.com to learn more!
