We usually only see the soccer players in their team uniforms, so it was fun to be able to dress them up in suits for the shoot. They’re so used to only wearing a uniform (which they call a ‘kit’), day after day that there was a tangible excitement when they put on the dapper duds. Since we’re heading into the thick of summer, I chose lightweight suits from Theory. They’re structured and clean but have stretch in them, which is important for athletes who like a bit more mobility. For Diego Fagundez and Brad Stuver I played with patterned shirts to complement the solid color suits. For Cecilio Dominguez I let the “verde” suit stand alone and paired it with a crisp white shirt. It made all of them look more GQ than FC and was fun to see a different side of the players.
