Sunday Music in the Park
There’s nothing better than wrapping up the weekend with some live music. Every Sunday in August, the City of Wayzata hosts Sunday Music in the Park on the Great Lawn in Wayzata in front of the Hotel Landing. From 4:30-5:30, bring a blanket or chairs to enjoy great live music by local talent. It’s the perfect way to slow down and soak up the summer before Monday rolls around. New Member Orientation
The Wayzata Chamber will host a New Member Orientation at Lago Tacos in Plymouth on Thursday, August 7. New members of the Wayzata West Metro Chamber, new employees of current members, or anyone considering joining the Chamber are all welcome to attend! Chamber staff and member leaders will share more about ways to engage in programs, events, and festivals throughout the year. Firecracker Race
Start your 4th of July off with a bang at the Firecracker Race in Excelsior. Run a 1-mile, 5K, or 10K that begins at Excelsior Elementary and winds its way along Lake Minnetonka and through the streets of Excelsior, Shorewood, Deephaven, and Greenwood before ending in the Excelsior Commons. Awards are handed out at 10am followed by a Kids Parade at 11am, and finishing with a petting zoo.
Lake Minnetonka 4th of July Celebration
Excelsior Commons is the place to be on the 4th of July. Food vendors open at 3pm with tasty bites, beverages, and live music and festivities throughout the day. Bring a blanket, chairs, or cruise in by boat on Lake Minnetonka to claim your front-row seat for a stunning fireworks display over the water. Fireworks will start around 9:50pm.
Excelsior Crazy Days
One of the best shopping events of the year, on July 17-20, stroll downtown for great sidewalk sales and unbeatable bargains from your favorite local businesses. Whether you’re hunting for fashion, gifts, home goods, or just soaking up the summer vibes, Crazy Days is the perfect excuse to explore, shop, and save. Want to plan your route? ELMCC Golf Outing
Hit the links at Deer Run Golf Club for the annual Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce (ELMCC) Golf Outing. This fun networking event promises a day of friendly competition and new connections with delicious food, awesome prizes, and, of course, great golf. No pressure if you’re not a seasoned golfer. Golfers of all levels are welcome, from first-timers to fairway regulars. If you’d like to join in, it’s $175 per golfer or $660 for a foursome. So, grab your clubs and get ready for a day that’s equal parts business and pleasure.
Concerts in the Commons
Concerts in the Commons combines everything we love about summer — live music, great food, drinks, and sunsets over the water. Wednesday nights through August 20th, the Excelsior Commons is filled with live music by talented local musicians. Food trucks and vendors start serving at 5pm, so you’ll want to come early and grab a bite before claiming your spot on the lawn before the music starts at 6:30pm. Donation Yoga
At 8:30am Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Saturday morning through August 28, you’ll find a great group meeting up in the Excelsior Commons for an outdoor yoga class. Open to all levels, you’ll only need to bring a mat and water. Donations are welcome, which all go to the Community for the Commons, the nonprofit park conservancy improving the Commons. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. To date, they’ve raised nearly $34,000 for the park!
