Basic Tee and Jeans
We asked Nathalie Mukendi of @CorporatelyChic to style three looks for summer-to-fall transitional dressing. She starts with quintessential Colorado casual: a basic white tee and jeans. Despite her sophisticated style, her approach to fashion is refreshingly personal: She doesn’t follow trends. Instead, she invests in pieces that can be worn year after year. Nathalie looks to street fashion for inspiration, adding her feminine, chic, and modest touch.
Pretty in Pink
Nathalie's first forays into fashion were entirely with black and neutrals. One day, inspired by her Congolese heritage, she threw in some orange and hasn't looked back. The trick, Nathalie says, is to know what shade of orange or pink looks good on you and carry yourself with confidence. Her confidence stems from her deep Christian faith, which serves as her fashion inspiration. Much of her social media presence is dedicated to spreading joy and God's love.
Accessories for the Win
Sometimes, simply swapping accessories is adequate to transition from warmer to cooler weather. Look closely at these looks. You'll find the same camel suede hat, earrings, and belt. Nathalie works as a corporate accountant, so smart professional outfits are a must. She shops various brands, from Burberry and Gucci to Zara and Aldo. She also shops TJ Maxx, Express, even thrift and resale shops. If it fits and is well-made, the label doesn't matter.
