Sunlit Style with a Story to Tell

A timeless trio of shops rooted in care, comfort, and coastal ease

In the coastal heart of Ormond Beach’s Fountain Square, three beloved boutiques—Bikini Company, Joyologie, and Beach People—offer more than stylish resort wear. They offer community, comfort, and a multigenerational love of the industry.

Owner Joy Rabeaux took over the family business in 1998, after her parents, who founded the original shop in the 1980s, moved to the area and began building what would become a beloved retail presence in Fountain Square. “These stores are just part of me now,” she says. That sense of care still echoes through the shops in the way she greets regulars by name and curates pieces with purpose. These stores are not just businesses. They are living extensions of a family’s rhythm and a woman’s devotion to doing what she loves, year after year.

Each boutique has its own personality. Bikini Company features fresh swimwear and youthful beach trends. Joyologie blends laid-back fashion with whimsical gifts. Beach People leans into coastal classics and carries linen staples along with menswear brands such as Tommy Bahama, OluKai, and Life is Good.

Joy’s hands-on care shows in every detail. She brings in new pieces constantly and rearranges each space weekly so that familiar items feel fresh again. “They just like to come and visit. It’s like a little community.”

In Florida’s heat, style must meet comfort. “This year it’s more linen and cotton—just things that are cool and breezy and easy to wear,” she says. “There’s a huge trend with crochet… dresses, skirts, and tops. It’s pretty and open-weave, so it’s not hot.”

Men’s fashion has expanded significantly across all three stores. One Australian board short brand with a built-in Lycra liner has become a surprising favorite. Even without the matching tops, Joy says, “Men love them because they’re comfortable.” Beach People has become a go-to spot for breathable button-downs, soft tees, and classic polos that look sharp without sacrificing ease.

Joy’s approach is rooted in substance, not sales tactics. “I want people to feel good about themselves,” she says. “That’s what’s most important, because trends change so quickly. If I say something, I really mean it. I’m not a great salesperson. I just want people to like what they wear.”

This October, Joy is hosting a trunk show featuring Joseph Ribkoff and Hobo. It will give shoppers a chance to explore full collections, custom order pieces, and discover favorite designers up close. “They love that,” she says. “It feels special.”

Whether you are a longtime local or simply passing through, make time to visit Fountain Square and say hello to Joy. The sunshine, the fabrics, the feeling you get when something fits just right; this is more than shopping. It is a little piece of the beach life you carry with you.
