It can go unsaid, but I’m going to say it anyway: we all want to eat healthier in the New Year. And let’s face it, finding food that’s nutritional, simple, clean, and tastes good can be a challenge. Especially with busy schedules, we just don’t have the time to figure out how to overhaul our diets. Lucky for us, Lake Minnetonka is home to Nautical Bowls. Think smoothies, but elevated.
Owned by husband and wife duo Bryant and Rachel Amundson, Nautical Bowls opened in 2018. “There was a lack of healthy options for food on the go. We wanted to fill a gap that was so deeply missing in Minnesota and beyond,” says Bryant. The lake-themed shop serves up organic, gluten-free, and dairy-free smoothie bowls that are packed with essential vitamins and nutrients. Based with fresh, raw ingredients like açaí berries, coconut, and chia pudding, the bowls are topped with ingredients like hemp, pumpkin seeds, banana, almond butter, and cacao nibs. “We test different ingredients as toppings for our bases, but what we've done that has been effective is two things. One, we keep the ingredient in the most raw or cleanest form possible. And two, we deliver familiar products in a new and fun way. We grind fresh peanuts and almonds right before your eyes from our nut grinder machines and place them directly on top of each bowl. I mean, you can't get fresher nut butters than that!”
It’s clear that Rachel and Bryant genuinely care about what they serve their guests, and that’s because they see them as just that: guests, not customers. “Everyone that walks through our doors is a guest of ours, not a customer. ‘Guest’ is based on our true and sincere passion to make each person feel welcomed and cared for. We like to focus on smiling, making eye contact, and using each guest's name as often as possible. Our bowls are high quality and very delicious but our heart is in creating an amazing experience for each and every guest.”
While you can customize your bowl any way you’d like, Nautical Bowls has six signature bowls, with the three most popular being the Nauti Bowl, the Sunrise Bowl, and the Paddle Bowl. You can see the love Bryant and Rachel have for their community in the names. Currently, the couple are franchising Nautical Bowls. They have 30 plus stores in development, with the goal of opening 1,000 stores in the next handful of years.
