The change of season brings the cooler weather we’ve all been waiting for and this fall’s fashion lineup is ready for it. For the latest in men’s styles, we turn to an expert with Cincinnati roots, Grayson Thornberry, an up-and-coming designer for Todd Snyder, the renowned menswear label based in New York City. The Todd Snyder brand is synonymous with modern American style, creating quality, innovative and playful apparel for men and making fashion attainable and fun. Thornberry has good news for fashionable guys that crave comfort—this autumn’s wardrobe essentials are cozy, natural and relaxed.
Soft + Cozy
This season’s signature sweaters are soft and cozy, offering the comfort of athleisure without compromising style. Watch for casual silhouettes and low-gauge knits that present as plush and sophisticated, as well as breathable and lightweight fine woolen wear.
“Men are feeling extra cozy these days, but that doesn’t mean sweatpants and sneakers,” explains Thornberry. “We are gravitating towards luxe cashmere, alpaca and wool sweaters—the softer the better.”
Warm + Natural
This fall’s look is all about how a garment feels. The ribs, weaves and waves of the favored fall fabrics and knits will make you want to reach out and touch them. Bid farewell to logo-stamps and artificial hues. Classic and inviting natural colors like espresso bean, camel and desert beige are in the spotlight for their warm and earthy appeal.
“Texture is in,” says Thornberry. “We are losing logos and running toward a visually and physically textured feel. Whether that means a boucle sweater or an extra slub cotton jacket, a textured garment feels rich with depth.”
Relaxed + Roomy
Fall pant styles are trending away from the tight and skinny and into the relaxed and roomy. Refined details bring a vintage flair: the look is both relaxed and tailored, with flattering pleats and timeworn fabrics.
“We are seeing a tremendous downtrend of slim fit pants,” Thornberry says. “Roomy, drapey and relaxed pants are making their way back into style. Whether that is Italian grandpa, laid back Americana or leisure style on a Sunday, wide is back.
“Pleats, generous leg measurements and drape are all welcomed,” he adds.
Update your man’s fall wardrobe with these new trends that will feel comfortable and lived-in from the start. Welcome the soft, relaxed and cozy fashions of the season into your closet to boost your professional and casual life with an effortless and timeless style that any sharp dressed man can appreciate.
