MABEL'S may look like your typical cafe, but it is far from it. With a dessert menu that boasts 18 craft milkshakes, five sundaes, one milkshake flight, and 16 other treats, it's no wonder MABEL'S attracts visitors from near and far. "We have had families travel from DC, Charlotte, North Carolina, Virginia Beach, Maryland, West Virginia, and South Carolina to try our shakes," says co-owner Denali Roberts. An impressive establishment already, MABEL's is proud to announce they plan to add new items to their menu this year.
Co-owner Brittney Kirby designs all milkshakes and seasonal lineups. Remarkably, she creates a new shake every month that coincides with that month's theme, like the Thanksgiving Pie shake in November and the Let Freedom Ring shake in July. MABEL'S most popular shake is the Peanut Butter Insanity. A chocolate shake in a chocolate-rimmed glass adorned with Reese's Pieces and topped with a slice of peanut butter cake, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and peanut butter sauce, what's not to love?
In addition to sweet treats, MABEL'S offers various savory food items. "The shakes are definitely amazing, but we actually sell more burgers and sandwiches than anything else on our menu," says Denali. The most requested burgers are the Bacon Cheeseburger, the Uncle Sam, and the Copenhagen. The options for a tasty bite to eat are endless.
