A vibrant splash of passion fruit transforms and elevates a traditional brunch favorite into something luxe and artisanal. Passion Fruit Mimosas maintain the core beauty and simplicity of a mimosa, while lending depth and complexity to its classic citrus profile. The resulting cocktail is floral, nectarous with notes of melon, effervescent, and refined.
For an even more elevated presentation, garnish with a sugared rim and add fresh edible flowers or herbs. Or, transform the drink into a mocktail by using sparkling water in place of the Champagne.
Ingredients
- 1-750 ml bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine, chilled
- ¾ cup freshly squeezed orange juice
- ¼ cup passion fruit juice or puree (mango or guava juice can be used as a substitute)
- 2-4 teaspoons simple syrup or agave syrup, depending on your desired sweetness level (optional)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional, enhances flavor)
- ¼ cup fresh passion fruit seeds and pulp (approximately 2-3 passion fruits) for garnish (optional)
- Orange wedges for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the orange juice, passion fruit juice, simple syrup (or agave), and a pinch of sea salt in a small pitcher. Stir to combine.
- Assemble the mimosas just before serving:
- Slightly tilt your Champagne flute or desired glassware and fill ⅔ with Champagne, letting it run down the inside of the glass
- Add ½ tablespoon fresh passion fruit pulp and seeds (if using)
- Top off with the passion fruit and orange juice blend
- Garnish with an orange wedge and enjoy!
Tips for success:
- Chill your Champagne if it’s room temperature (approximately three hours in the refrigerator, but can be done days in advance).
- Prepare the juice blend at least thirty minutes (up to one day) before serving.
