Wellness therapy is just a wick away at Candle Opera, a Eureka-based boutique shop from which to create or buy custom-scented, hand poured soy wax candles.
Making candles can be a perfect destination date night, as COVID-19 pandemic capacity restrictions lift. In the meantime, Candle Opera owner Tammy Wachter says her online shop is open 24/7. She offers a flat-rate shipping of $11.95 or curbside pickup.
"Our candles are made with 100% natural soy wax -- a renewable, nontoxic and biodegradable resource which supports local farmers," explains Tammy. "We use all-cotton wicks that produce clean burning."
Her premium candle fragrances are inspired by a range of scents: fruit, wine, holidays, nuts, pies, coconuts, flowers, candy, bonfires, hemp, spices, ice cream, winter woods, teas, eucalyptus, leather, cotton, beverages, herbs, trees and Biblical scriptures.
This interior designer by trade says her store's strawberry and champagne candle would make a splendid Valentine's Day gift.
Another V-Day option would be Tammy's candle kits to do together safely at home. The kit includes parchment paper for work areas, wax for three candles, choice of scented fragrance oil, candle tins with lids, wicks/wick stickers, safety labels, wick bars, pouring pitcher, stir stick, color chip and labels to adorn tins with creative candle names.
"If you love candles as much as we do, or know someone who does, consider joining our Candle of the Month Club. Recipients receive a beautiful candle shipped directly to their home by the 5th of every month. We have five options for different month totals," she adds.
Additionally, Tammy provides reed diffusers, room spritzes and organic wool dryer balls.
Since 2018, she says the store's been an entire family initiative, with her children working there and now majoring in business in college.
"Candles are such a simple way to bring harmony and balance into your life. Blissful scents and flickering warm glows help to reduce stress and grant peace and serenity...something we all can benefit from these days," proclaims Tammy.
As a supporter of "experiential retail places," Tammy says a popup shop in Chesterfield may occur by this summer, as well as a second store location.
