Spending time with family-it's what summer is really all about, right? And what better place to relax and enjoy than your own home, especially outside. Is your patio or deck up to summertime snuff? Maybe it's time to take a look-think big, dream bigger. Then let Holmes Custom Renovations take everything to a whole new level.

Ian Holmes founded the company in 2003 with a vision to become a regional industry leader rooted in professional ability, ethical practices, and a solid reputation as a trustworthy contractor. Ian, his wife, Lori, and daughter, Adriana, have all contributed significantly to the company’s growth during that time. Their focus? Community—it’s prioritized in the work they do, and a number of satisfied clients happily report how impactful that work has been.

"We're building lasting relationships," the team shares. "Based on trust, respect, integrity and commitment."

Project: Stairway to Heavenly
Client: Bob Lonsway

“The Holmes team was a delight to work with,” Bob says. “Everyone we encountered was very responsive, helpful, and flexible with our questions and changes. They kept us informed and went above and beyond every day—patiently putting up with our special requests and lists.”

The project Bob’s referencing was the addition of a section to an existing second-story deck, “which we did with a custom spiral staircase that connected it to the lower level,” reports Noah Elmore, Project Consultant. “This addition allowed for easy access to both levels in a tight space where a traditional staircase would not have been possible.”

Noah says the Lonsway family was an amazing team to collaborate with. “We had several meetings where we brainstormed ideas to bring their vision to life. They already had a fantastic outdoor living space, and they trusted us to enhance it even further,” he explains.

“We were very pleased with the final result,” Bob shares. “It’s a stunning and fabulous addition to our home, one that will last a lifetime!”

Project: Full-Scale Retreat
Client: Ivan and Judy Pusecker

Ivan happily reports that his project—a finished deck—“exceeded our expectations,” adding that it “was just what we hoped for.” Ivan cites thorough communication as one of the team’s greatest assets.

“They always kept me informed, with high standards and professional systems and procedures,” he says. “The construction crew treated our property like their own, and we’re very happy with the finished deck.”

Noah points out that Ivan and Judy were a pleasure to work with right from the beginning. “One afternoon, Ivan personally visited our showroom to inquire about how to get on our schedule and discuss reviving his existing deck. After meeting with him and Judy, we helped them choose the ideal materials and colors to rejuvenate their deck,” Noah says.

"Now, it's the perfect spot for them to enjoy each other's company … right in their amazing new backyard retreat."

Project: Poolside Paradise
Client: Dave and Janice Mills

Dave and Janice were impressed with the Holmes crew’s “professionalism, quality of work, regular communication, the time taken, and the end result,” Dave smiles.

The couple needed to replace a pergola, with a better covered structure to protect against the rain and improve sun shelter. “We also wanted to minimize light lost in the main house,” he says, “and maintain an open feel to the structure. All were achieved.”

“Working with Dave and Janice was truly a rewarding experience,” Lori says. “They wanted to be able to enjoy their pool/patio space, rain or shine, without having a screened-in porch.”

Dave points out that the team’s attention to detail was superb. “I was kept included in any discussions that required immediate solutions—that was reassuring,” he says. “We received exactly what we were expecting and are very happy with the outcome.”

Helping neighbors realize their visions is important at Holmes, Lori says.

“It’s fun to get to know our clients and help them think through their vision,” she says. “At the same time knowing that because we’re using state-of-the-art material that will stand up to the crazy weather we have, they won’t have to do this project again in 10 years. The ability to help solve problems in a creative way that will last is what Holmes is all about.”
