Librarian to Innovator

How Chris Rohde is Shaping the Future of Custom Tech

Chris Rohde, the innovative force behind Surf's Up Computing, has been passionate about technology ever since he was in 8th grade, when he designed three video games. This early fascination with IT sparked a lifelong journey, transitioning him from a career as a reference librarian to an expert in hardware design, where he now crafts custom computers and gadgets.

One of Chris’s most exciting creations is a handmade, golf ball-shaped computer that merges old-school craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. “I wanted to build a computer the old-fashioned way, but with new, high-end technology,” Chris shares. These unique devices, which start with 8GB of memory and weigh just 5 pounds, are fully customizable, offering up to 96GB of memory along with modern features like WiFi, RGB lighting, and a 2.5-gig connection.

In addition to his signature golf ball PCs, Chris has also designed bowling ball-shaped computers and is currently working on a beer mug-inspired model. His inventive flair doesn't stop there—Chris has also developed custom name badges with scrolling messages, a perfect gift for the tech-savvy during the holiday season.

Beyond his innovative work at Surf's Up Computing, Chris is a devoted family man. Married since 2015, he has two daughters and balances his business with family life. Looking ahead, Chris dreams of opening a state-of-the-art bowling alley with 80 lanes, further showcasing his creative vision.
