Tequila is undoubtedly the drink of the summer. Those who are looking to experiment with the spirit or want to hone the craft this summer are looking for tips to become better mixologists at home.  The expert mixologists at Tequila Corrido are available to share their advice on the essentials needed to make an elevated cocktail at home. 

A few tips when working with Tequila include

  • You can't go wrong with adding citrus
    • Fresh squeezed lime, lemon, orange, grapefruit juices are the perfect mixers
    • Smoothness from tequila balances acidity
  • Sweetener Solutions
    • Swap simple syrup for agave syrup to add another dimension of sweetness
  • Types of tequila & flavor profiles
    • Blanco has citrus, fruity and rich, floral agave flavor with slight crisp pepper notes
    • Reposado has lasting notes of vanilla, caramel, fruits and spices
    • Añejo has bolder, intense flavor with a touch of coffee, agave and dry fruit
  • Garnishes
    • Freeze herbs (ex. mint, basil) or fruit (ex: pomegranate arils, berries) for a decorative and flavorful final touch to your drinks
    • Top drinks off with edible flowers, freshly grated spices, dried fruit

Passion fruit Paradise

  • 2 1/2 oz Tequila Corrido Añjeo (Blanco or Reposado can also be used)
  • 1/2 muddled fresh passion fruit
  • 3/4 oz Fresh pineapple juice
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup
  • 1/4 oz Lemon Juice
  • Shake
  • Pour into Collins Glass filled with ice
  • Garnish with pineapple and lemon twist

Midsummer Melody

  • 2 oz. Tequila Corrido Blanco
  • 1/4 oz. Melon Liqeuer
  • 1/2 oz Agave nectar
  • 1/2 oz. Aperitif of choice
  • Top with bubbles
  • Combine all ingredients into a shaker and shake vigorously
  • Strain into a chilled glass.
  • Top with bubbles and garnish.

The Duet

  • 1 oz. each of Tequila Corrido Repo and Blanco
  • 3/4 oz. Watermelon Syrup
  • Mint sprig
  • 3/4 oz Lime
  • Jalapeno
  • 1/2 oz. Agave
  • Muddle 1 jalapeno and mint into shaker.
  • Combine the ingredients with crushed ice and shake.
  • Pour into glass and garnish

The Duet

  • 1 oz. each of Tequila Corrido Repo and Blanco
  • 3/4 oz. Watermelon Syrup
  • Mint sprig
  • 3/4 oz Lime
  • Jalapeno
  • 1/2 oz. Agave
  • Muddle 1 jalapeno and mint into shaker.
  • Combine the ingredients with crushed ice and shake.
  • Pour into glass and garnish
