Every year, artists in our community open their homes and studios for the Artist Studio Tour. This year, we look inside the studio of artist Jennifer Spencer.
Jennifer creates modern paintings that enliven the homes of interesting people and hearten contemporary commercial spaces. Many of her paintings are inspired by the people and events she experiences in everyday life—what she reads and thinks about, the people who captivate her and the ideas that perplex her. Jennifer believes that paintings choose the person, not the other way around. She has seen it happen again and again.
"An individual walks through a room, glances toward a painting, and it’s almost as if the painting has winked and smiled at the person. There’s a connection," she says.
