Thankful for Our Veterans

Meaningful ways to thank veterans in our community

New Braunfels takes Veterans Day to heart, and there are many thoughtful ways to honor those who served beyond a meal out. This year, the city’s Veterans Day Parade & Ceremony is set for Saturday, November 8, 2025. Whether you grew up here or are visiting, a small act of thanks can have a big impact.

Ways to celebrate veterans in New Braunfels

  • Attend a veteran event or volunteer. Showing up is powerful. This not only gives you a chance to give back, but also offers a way to connect with the veterans in the community.
  • Visit the New Braunfels Veterans Memorial to leave a flag, a note, or a flower. Take a quiet moment to read names, reflect, and share the space with family.
  • Observe a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. with your children. Use the moment to explain why November 11 matters and invite kids to ask questions about service and sacrifice.
  • Write thank-you cards or draw pictures and deliver them to the New Braunfels VA clinic, veterans’ group, or even the 7Ten Activity Center. Personal notes are meaningful and often treasured.
  • Give time, not just money. Offer to mow a veteran’s lawn, drive someone to an appointment, help with grocery shopping, or tackle a home repair.
  • Support veteran-focused nonprofits and local posts like the VFW Post 7110 or American Legion Walton F Hoffman Memorial Post 179 with donations or volunteer hours.
  • Teach and record stories. Invite a veteran to share memories, record an oral history with permission, or create a small family tribute to keep the memory alive.

Veterans Day is a chance to turn gratitude into action. Pick one idea that fits your family and make it part of how New Braunfels honors service—on November 11 and all year long.
