Thankful Hearts, In-Home Care, Warm Smiles

Amada Senior Care Professionals Deliver Dependable, Attentive Home Care Services

When Kelly and Kevin Fehr started Amada Senior Care during 2014, they remember being guided by a bold vision to provide amazing, much-needed services to seniors while giving back to their community.

Kevin says, “My grandfather was one of the most influential people in my life. He lived to be 102, and for the last eight years of his life received excellent full-time, in-home care. The caregivers at his bedside were like angels. It was truly a wonderful experience. This care benefited my grandfather to be sure, but it also allowed my mother and uncle to be a true daughter and son, rather than caregivers.”

“Pop-Pop’s wish was to stay in the home he built himself in the 1950s,” Kelly adds. “In-home care made it possible for that wish to come true.”

Eleven years later, the Fehrs and Amada Senior Care team members believe they've achieved that envisioned vision. This nonmedical home care company helps seniors or adults with disabilities in the privacy and comfort of their residences. The assistance ranges from personal hygienic care and ensuring home safety to light housekeeping and meal preparation, transportation services or other activities that improve client's overall quality of life while maintaining independence in their homes.

Notably, Kevin says they serve both civilians and US veterans in eight counties throughout Middle Tennessee from their Murfreesboro headquarters at 402 Uptown Square.

"Our Amada Senior Care team is very thankful to give back by providing complimentary services through the VA hospitals in Murfreesboro and Nashville. Our caregivers know and respect the sacrifice that these veterans made, and they bend over backwards to provide them with the best care possible," he says as the company's president and CEO.

Those military veteran-specific services can include help with living in a senior living community of their choice; receiving additional in-home care services; securing health care benefits that are financial covered with no repayment required; and receiving home care benefits paid directly by the US treasury on a tax-free basis.

As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Kevin spearheads the company's business development. He says this licensure allowed him to develop a robust dementia training initiative for all of Amada’s caregivers, and provides him with opportunities to consult both families and physicians on the differential diagnosis of dementias.

Kelly oversees Amada Senior Care’s management and processes as chief operating officer. She says, "Our talented team learned early on in their journey that culture is the biggest attribute to the success of a company."

During several ways to acknowledge contributions of the company's employees, the Fehrs host an annual “Caregiver Appreciation Week” at their office. Kelly cooks meals for the caregivers and serves them lunch or dinner as a small way to say thanks for doing a great job.

They also acknowledge an Employee of the Month with a monetary gift, and have conducted a Caregiver Support Conference in Murfreesboro. To these collective ends, Amada Senior Care has earned both “A Great Place to Work” and “Top Places to Work” community designations.

The Fehrs take serious any opportunities to improve caregiving and community-driven services. "Building a successful company is important, but that pales in comparison to giving back to our community. Whether it’s serving on nonprofit boards, volunteering our time with service-oriented organizations or financially supporting efforts that are important to our core values like with the Alzheimer’s Association, American Red Cross and Alzheimer’s Tennessee, we keep priorities in the right place," explains Kelly.

Kevin states their philosophy is simple: the more they earn, the more they give back. "Being a part of helping families during difficult times in their lives has been extremely rewarding. We have a responsibility to provide exceptional service to our clients, while philanthropically giving back and supporting our community," says Kevin.

"It’s who we are, it’s what we do."

Being thankful for an amazing family, business and community ties is "an attribute that should never be taken lightly," asserts this compassionate duo who want to enhance lifestyle choices that support healthy, quality-filled aging.
