Thankful Through Every Storm

How Two Sisters Built DRYmedic with Compassion, Preparedness and Purpose

As hurricane season winds down, Brooke Yobo and Lindsay Keyser of DRYmedic are grateful for what their Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch communities have been spared this year. Restoration is their work, but they say they never want hardship to be the reason their business grows.

“We're incredibly grateful that, as of today, our Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch communities have not experienced a painful hurricane season this year,” they said. “Restoration is the work we do, but we never want our community to experience hardship simply for our business to grow.”

That perspective has shaped DRYmedic since Brooke and Lindsay opened their doors at the start of 2024. The company responds to water, fire, mold and storm damage, helping families and businesses recover after life's most stressful moments. In the beginning, much of their focus was on building trust. Now, they are expanding their team, investing in equipment and vehicles, and growing commercial work.

One meaningful sign of that growth has been word-of-mouth.

“We've had the opportunity to serve multiple homes within the same neighborhoods, sometimes even on the same street,” they said. “That means so much to us because it reflects something we deeply value: when you take great care of people, they remember.”

As sisters and business partners, Brooke and Lindsay bring different strengths to the company. Lindsay loves the technical side of restoration and field work, focusing on equipment, safety protocols, vehicle readiness and the details that ensure each job is done correctly. Brooke is drawn to operations, strategy and communication, building systems that help clients understand what happens next and feel supported.

“We don't approach everything the same way, but that's one of the things that makes us a strong partnership,” they said. “We challenge each other, bring different perspectives, and share the same commitment to building a business grounded in integrity, excellence, and compassion.”

Behind the scenes, storm preparation requires more than equipment. It requires planning, communication, trained people and a process that allows the team to respond responsibly while staying safe. Brooke and Lindsay also encourage homeowners to prepare before an emergency happens, including understanding insurance policies and knowing who they can trust.

“Quality restoration is an investment in protecting their property and preventing further damage,” they said. “Water doesn't always stop where you can see it.”

They have seen that truth in difficult moments, including a family they served through two hurricanes who lost nearly everything, from wedding dresses to ultrasound photos. What stayed with Brooke and Lindsay was not only the loss, but the way neighbors gathered, helped remove debris and supported the homeowners.

“Even in the middle of unimaginable loss, they chose joy,” they said.

That experience reminded them that restoration is about more than repairing walls and floors. It is also about helping people regain safety, stability and peace.

“Our prayer has always been that God would give us the wisdom to build a restoration business that is different - not simply in what we do, but in how we do it,” they said.

This season, they are thankful for their husbands, children, parents, team, clients and the women, mentors and business owners who encouraged them.

“We're still growing, still learning, and still building,” they said. “But we're so thankful for the people who have been part of this journey and for the opportunity to serve this community.”
