Last year, Pastor David, his lovely wife Amy, and their family were planning a festive celebration for those who would be alone on Thanksgiving. That’s when they invented the word “Sanksgiving – a combination of “Thanksgiving” and “Sharing.”
This year, as the entire family of Lakeside Lutheran rejoices in the many blessings from Jesus, including the fellowship in celebration of Jesus’s Love for all, Lakeside Lutheran will hold its second annual Sanksgiving - on November 23, 2023, at Myer Hall.
To inspire all, here is a prayer written by the Pastor and his wife.
0 God, when I have food, help
me to remember the hungry.
When I have work, help me to
remember the jobless. When I have
a home, help me to remember
those who have no home at all.
When I am without pain, help me
to remember those who suffer.
And remembering, help me to
destroy my complacency, bestir
my compassion, and be concerned
enough to help, by word and
deed, those who cry out for what
we take for granted. Amen.”
