Fall weather in Texas is unpredictable at best with temperatures often teetering between crisp and cool to hot and sweltering. Choosing the perfect outfit for such imperfect weather can prove to be a challenge. This month, Megan Condrack, owner of Megan’s Lifestyle Boutique, shows us some transitional outfits that will comfortably and stylishly carry us from summer to fall.
“Begin by adding slightly warmer colors to your style,” Megan says.
She advises blending white jeans and darker tops and shoes.
“This blend of white and colors will transition you into fall. Use the same darker tops and add the fall-colored darker pants and booties for a great Texas fall look.”
And, she says, “Always remember, sleeveless tops transition well with lightweight jackets or blazers.”
Forget the antiquated rule of not wearing white after Labor Day, Megan says.
“Yes, you can wear white after Labor Day. White is year-round. ‘No rules’ is how I operate. Dress for your personality and body type.
“Stay current but not necessarily ‘trendy,’” Megan says. “Trends come and go, but our clothing typically has a longer ‘closet life.’ Great quality fabrics and dressing for your body type create items that will be in your closet for years to come, benefiting the ‘price-per-wear’ value.”
And don’t forget to accessorize!
“Accessories are the icing on the cake. They complete the story and express your personal style,” Megan says.
When it comes to accessorizing, Megan advises individuals to simply have fun.
“You don’t have to always wear the same necklace and earrings. Let your accessories reflect the occasion.”
Meet the Models
Lindsay Ayers, director of Strategic Partnerships for Lewisville ISD, has been with the school district for three years. She is a member of The Village Church, where she is a home group leader. Lindsay says she loves working for Lewisville ISD.
“It is really fun working for an organization comprised of so many talented individuals. Our students and staff are often recognized as the best of the best.”
Lindsay, a mom of three, says her style profile is “classic and classy” but practical.
“Having kids means that one minute I might be having an ‘adult conversation,’ and the next minute I will be picking up a child or playing a game on the ground,” she says. “My wardrobe needs to be as flexible as my life. Truth be told, if I could live in jeans, I would!”
Dr. Lisa Pierce is a child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. She has served on the boards of the Cross Timbers Rotary Club, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Denton County and Christian Community Action (CCA). She also serves with her husband, Ronnie, on the Home Starter team with Valley Creek Church’s Next Steps Center.
Perhaps Lisa’s proudest accomplishment is being the co-founder of She Supply, an organization created in 2016 to provide women in need with feminine hygiene products and undergarments.
“I am currently the vice-chair of that organization, and I have the privilege of serving on the board along with my 20-year-old daughter, Jessica,” she says. “We have even enlisted the help of my son, Adam, who made She Supply the beneficiary of his high school capstone project; and my husband, Ronnie, who loads boxes and helps with deliveries of products when needed.”
Because she works with children, Lisa says her style is casual.
“Though I do like dressing up on occasion.”
Pam Petrides is director of marketing at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound. She is president of the North Texas Pink-Out Breast Cancer Foundation.
Pam has three children. She loves to work out Monday through Friday at Life Time Fitness, and she adores dogs.
Pam says her style depends on the occasion.
“I guess I would say my personal style for work is classy and professional. Outside of work, I love to be casual—sometimes wearing shorts and T-shirts or workout clothes,” she says. “I love a good pair of jeans with a fun top.”
Fashion Meets Art
Our fashion photo shoot took place at Medical City Lewisville Grand Theater’s art gallery with the Visual Art League of Lewisville’s Fresh Ideas 2019 Art Competition and Exhibit as the inspiring backdrop.
