From the moment she could hold a pencil, Lindsay Huss knew art was her calling. "It's my most centered and excited place to be," she says. That early passion, nurtured by her mother and both grandmothers, has evolved into a life's work that brings joy, meaning, and vibrancy not just to her, but to communities near and far.
Lindsey's artistic journey began with graphite drawings, mastering the delicate detail of pencil portraits before college. Since then, her portfolio has blossomed into a wide range of mediums: murals, oil paintings, florals, landscapes, large-scale installations, ceramics, sewing, and jewelry making—you name it, she's likely created it.
Before committing full-time to her art practice, Lindsay spent years sharing her love of art with students in local schools. Teaching, she says, was a rewarding experience that helped shape her creative philosophy. But the pull to focus entirely on her work became impossible to ignore, and Lindsay leaped at the chance to become a full-time artist. That decision has not only allowed her to express her creativity on a broader scale but also to give back in meaningful ways.
In 2024, Lindsay traveled to a small village in Brazil to donate her time and talent. There, she painted a vibrant mural celebrating the region's lush plant and animal life. One figure in the mural stands out—a caramel-colored dog named Mary. Mary isn't just a sweet face; she symbolizes the deep community bond with animals in the village. "Everyone there takes care of the animals," Lindsay shares. Mary, like most of the dogs in the area, had a soft, caramel-colored coat and a calm, kind spirit; an emblem of the connection between people and nature in the village.
Closer to home, Lindsay continues to use her art to support the local community. One of her most notable contributions was painting over 5,000 square feet of scenery for Bonneville High School's production of The Wizard of Oz. Her artistic vision transformed the stage into a magical, immersive world, one brushstroke at a time.
Ogden residents may also recognize Lindsay's work in one of the photos. The painting, inspired by her journey during the Ogden Marathon, captures the emotion and resilience of pushing through challenges on the road and in life. Another local favorite is a whimsical piece she painted for Roosters, a well-known restaurant. "I loved being able to bring that small space to life with color, imagination, and creativity," she states.
However, for Lindsay, some of the most rewarding projects unfold quietly, within someone's home. She loves hearing the personal stories of her clients, interpreting their memories and values through custom canvas paintings that she then installs in their living spaces. "It's significant to bring a family's story to life through art," she reflects.
Style is a theme that runs through all of Lindsay's art. Whether she's painting a mural in a Brazilian village, adding personality to a local business, or crafting a one-of-a-kind masterpiece for someone's living room, Lindsay Huss brings more than just the art to the world—she brings connection, joy, and beauty. With each project, she continues to prove that creativity and style, when shared, can transform not just a canvas, but entire communities. More of Lindsay's art can be found at lindsayhussart.com.
