Within the end result, hospitality is a beautiful space to partake. It calls something out of someone to chase a dream that's on the inside, to work the hardest they have, and to develop something that is purely for others. Hosting often leads with the foot of selflessness and care and when done in a public setting, we, the visitors, become the lucky beneficiaries of a tireless work. When done well, it requires thorough attention to detail and an ability to make the most challenging scenario effortless.

Gathering Spaces

Grace Harrison is a magnificent curator of space that serves others. Initially within a center tucked in the middle of our city, she went out on a limb and decided to bring a new cadence to the area, a corner shop coffee stop that over time would become a hub to so many entrepreneurs, friends, and neighbors: Peak Place Coffee.

A few years after the opening of her coffee shop and roastery, Hold Fast Coffee Co., the next gap Grace saw for that area was for the nighttime patrons. And so, The Bar at Almagre became. Grace’s desire to create a gathering space for guests to feel right at home in the evenings after a long day that felt relaxing, enjoyable and memorable because of the ambiance and the intentionally prepared flavors of both food and drink went to the top of the list.

Ambiance + Menu

Each afternoon, light floods the room in the beautiful kind of way that makes you want to photograph it with every shifting shadow and then flows seamlessly into the moody hours of the night that offer candles and low light. The art on the walls feels rare and engaging. The texture of the seats, tables, and doors makes you want to put your phone down and stare for a while. With each season comes a new menu, full of flavors from around the world while well anchored in familiarity, which makes their menus approachable and craved.

Their fall menu was released on October 14th and they’ll be weaving in additions specific to winter during mid-December. This year, they’re open Wednesday, November 24th for a Friendsgiving type food + beverage experience.

For Grace, it’s the pairings—specifically, “our high dessert board and cocktail pairing.” Yum!

Walking into Almagre has a way of offering that Cheers vibe of home, while keeping the clean lines relevant and bursts of flavor left somewhere in the midst of a drool. Spaces like this are for nothing if not visited, savored, and completely enjoyed. Grab the ones you love or enjoy some quiet time, but make sure it's on your list as we enjoy more indoor spaces really well this season.
