The Best in Banking

Hometown Banking

Clients seem to feel smaller as banks become larger. Customer support teams are all too often located in a different state or even a different country from the client, and account officers are difficult to get in touch with.

But TowneBank is different. They are a relationship- and friendship-driven local bank focused on basic human values. They serve to create a warm sense of belonging and financial well-being among their family of members.

“Our members know who their account officer is, and they are always accessible just about any time during the weekend or the week," says Phil Jurney, the president of TowneBank Charlotte. "We have that home town bank feel. As things get bigger and bigger it’s just a greater opportunity for us.”

Being member-focused is at the heart of TowneBank’s philosophy. Offering a competitive array of business and personal financial services, they make sure your experience is highlighted by the highest of ethical standards. They have never lost sight of their roots: local decision-making, community board leadership, volunteerism, philanthropy and a culture of caring—it's all part of the Towne experience.

Giving Back

Helping the Queen City community and, particularly, the next generation is one of the pillars of TowneBank Charlotte. At the forefront of their mission is the drive to support the local community and enrich the lives of those here in Charlotte. Whether it’s volunteering, fundraising or through donations, TowneBank proudly supports nonprofit organizations committed to excellence in building a stronger Charlotte. The Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas is just one way that they do so.

As directly stated on the Junior Achievement website, it is, "the world’s largest organization dedicated to providing young people in grades K-12 with the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for the future and make smart academic and economic choices."

TowneBank provides the naming rights for Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas, now called TowneBank Opportunity HQ. The headquarters is located here in Charlotte and was unveiled in September of 2018. The 30,000-square-foot center is stationed in Charlotte’s Camp North End development.

“We believe strongly that JACC’s programs and its facility are the vehicle through which we will provide significant impact and access to opportunity,” Phil says.

The TowneBank title-sponsored JA headquarters gives more than 19,000 fifth- and 10th-graders an opportunity to dip their hands in a real-world-based simulation of how local economies work in addition to learning what role they take as consumers, employees and business owners. Every student makes an application for a job, earns compensation and uses a debit card. The facility also houses a student training space, abundant parking and two presentation rooms. Long term, TowneBank wants to help educate and serve more than 300,000 students through their TowneBank headquarters.

Phil Jurney, President of Townebank Charlotte

Phil is no stranger in Queen City. As TowneBank Charlotte’s president, he is native to the area and has grown up just a few miles from where he sits now in TowneBank Charlotte’s head location in South Park. Before the merger nearly two years ago, he was president of Paragon Bank. He felt the two banks would align perfectly in a merger because they were extremely client-focused. When it came in-house, the culture of both banks valued the way they treated employees and their members, something Phil gives great weight to. In June of this year, Paragon changed its name to TowneBank.
