The Bradenton Dream Center held its annual Golf Tournament fundraiser on November 4, 2024, at the beautiful Azario Golf Course, bringing the community together in support of two of its impactful programs: the After School Program and the Christmas Dreamland. Over 120 players, ranging from seasoned golfers to enthusiastic newcomers, took to the greens in a lively shotgun-style start, with a sunny day enhancing the atmosphere of friendly competition and camaraderie.
The tournament enjoyed the generous backing of various local businesses through sponsorships, showcasing the community’s dedication to the Dream Center’s mission. Participants were treated to both breakfast and lunch, fueling them for a day of spirited play. The competition was fierce, with awards for first, second, and third place, along with prizes for the longest drive, rewarding players for their hard work and skill on the course. Adding to the excitement was a thrilling opportunity on hole 17, where participants could try for a hole-in-one to win a new 2024 Chevy Silverado, courtesy of Cox Chevrolet.
Funds raised from the tournament will go directly towards supporting the Bradenton Dream Center's After School Program and the upcoming Christmas Dreamland. The After School Program has become a vital resource for elementary students in downtown Bradenton, specifically providing transportation for children from Ballard Elementary and Rogers Garden Elementary. Focused on literacy, wellness, and spiritual growth, the program offers a range of enrichment activities, including homework help, a S.T.E.A.M. lab, and fitness sessions, all of which provide students with a safe and stimulating environment after school. Each day, the children are also given a nutritious meal, supporting both their physical and academic development.
This year, the positive impact of the program was especially evident. Ballard Elementary, one of the schools served by the Dream Center, saw its school grade improve from a “C” to a “B,” a remarkable milestone. Parents and educators alike attribute this achievement to the structured support and individualized attention that the Dream Center’s programs provide.
As Christmas approaches, the funds from the tournament will also help create a memorable holiday season for the children and families of the Dream Center. The Christmas Dreamland program offers a joyful shopping experience, ensuring that families can celebrate without the financial stress that the holiday season often brings. In partnership with Bayside Community Church, the Dream Center makes it possible for parents to choose gifts for their children, adding a personal touch to the season of giving.
The Bradenton Dream Center, part of the larger Dream Center Network affiliated with the Los Angeles Dream Center, is one of 84 Dream Centers worldwide working to support communities in need. The network spans 29 states and eight countries, all united by a mission to bring practical resources and hope to local communities.
