When Magaux Marena was planning her son's eighth-grade graduation party in the spring of 2022, she wanted a fun, unique dessert truck to offer guests treats at the end of the party. There was a problem, though: she couldn't find any in the area. She decided to start her own.
As soon as the idea popped into her head, she hit the ground running. "Shortly after, I purchased a pickup truck," the Stamford native says. She had it converted into a mobile candy superstore, called Candy Connection, and hit the road just a few months later. Her goal is to leave party guests stunned with the selection of treats. "I think it’s important to have a little of everything," says Margaux. "I love picking out new and fun things that I know the little kids will love, their reactions are always the best. I also make sure to pick some favorite old-school candy that blows people's minds. I love hearing 'OMG, a Whatchamacallit, I haven’t seen those in forever!'"
Candy Connection pops up at all kinds of parties– from weddings to backyard barbecues to birthdays to bar mitzvahs— and is always a huge hit. "Nothing is better than the smiles," says Margaux. "I mean, I’m in the candy business. What could be more joyful?
