The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa

Winter in New England

Nestled in the Green Mountain National Forest in historic Manchester, Vermont, The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa has welcomed guests for over 250 years, including multiple U.S. presidents and dignitaries. Steeped in history, The Equinox has been a hotbed for American Revolutionaries since 1769 and has hosted distinguished guests, including Presidents William Howard Taft, Ulysses S. Grant, and Theodore Roosevelt, to name a few.

The expansive resort features 199 guestrooms with several suite categories; a full-service spa, a 75-foot indoor pool, and fitness classes; four dining outlets, including the fabled Marsh Tavern (a destination since 1769) and an award-winning par-71, 18-hole championship golf course.

The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa’s elegant rooms and suites offer historic charm accented with the latest comforts, inviting guests to experience Vermont luxury, whether staying in the main Equinox Resort or the more intimate Orvis Inn.

The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa offers classic cuisine in a refined setting, providing guests with an authentic taste of New England. Helmed by Chef Joseph Stewart and F&B director Jeff Everts, the resort’s four dining venues, including Chop House, Marsh Tavern, Dormy Grill (closed in the winter), and Falcon Bar, make memorable meals for guests--generation after generation.

Other property highlights include disc golf, guided hiking, seasonal axe-throwing and kayaking, Orvis-led fly fishing, clay shooting, and Land Rover off-roading driving school.

Rob Booth, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Equinox, says, “the Orvis family owned the original building in the mid-1800s, so we offer popular fly fishing and sporting clay packages. We are one of few places offering Land Rover’s exclusive off-road driving experience.”

As an independent hotel property, The Equinox has its own unique identity. Chief Happiness Officer, Cooper is the resort’s resident golden retriever. He greets guests with the #EquinoxPawsUp greeting and focuses his canine efforts on making everyone feel at home. “He has his own business cards and IG handle,” says Rob (@equinox_cooper). Contact Cooper if you want to take a casual hike through the 914- acre Equinox preserve on Saturday mornings (late spring through early fall).

Cooper will also be on hand to greet guests at all of the resort’s holiday and Christmas festivities, including the annual tree lighting on December 2, Santa Brunch on December 11, Christmas Brunch on December 25, and New Year’s celebrations. Every Friday throughout December, a “Sipping with Santa” happy hour takes place, complete with cookies and hot apple cider for the kids and wine for adults.

Guests will love the resort’s winter wonderland beauty, accentuated by the spectacular holiday decorations adorning the entire property. A festive theme is selected each year and unveiled right after Thanksgiving.

Build your own Frosty in the resort’s snowman garden or go sledding on the hill behind the hotel throughout the winter months—there’s so much to do. The Equinox also boasts an outdoor ice-skating rink. Manchester is close to Bromley, Magic Mountain, and Stratton. In addition to being a convenient location for skiers, the resort offers cottage and townhome options that can accommodate the entire family ski trip. Don’t ski? Check out the scenic horse-drawn sleigh rides and nearby snowmobiling trails.

There’s nothing like New England in the wintertime. Experience it at The Equinox—the icon of New England life for over two centuries.
