Experience the Beauty of The Oaks

Over 140 Years of Charm Can Be Found at this Restaurant and Event Center

It’s the early 1900s and you just purchased a .50 cent roundtrip ticket to travel by rail car from Cleveland to Medina County. Your journey leads you to a ballroom at Chippewa Lake Amusement Park, which would eventually host the biggest names in music and entertainment for years to come.

As part of your adventure, you stop for the evening at the expansive estate and lakeside retreat, Five Oaks, owned by railroad executive, Oscar Townsend. There will be nothing but 5-star hospitality during your stay — along with views of beautiful Chippewa Lake made even more spectacular by Townsend, who in the late 1800s, created a large, concrete portico with lattice roofs and a matching pagoda down by the water’s edge.

It’s the early 1960s and you are driving this time to Chippewa Lake to visit The Oak's Lodge, which is now owned by partners Don Casper and Al Hitchens. The same gracious hospitality is extended to visitors in the form of fine dining and lodging. A destination for out of towners and locals alike, the lodge is popular and busy all year round.

It's now 2022, and Don Casper’s heirs, Bonnie Casper Drushal, Holli Boylan and Cheryl Casper Laquinta are keeping The Oaks legacy alive. The family takes pride in restoring, expanding and preserving the estate which has been thick with nostalgia for over 60 years.

The Oaks Lakeside and Event Venue, with its air of romance and charm, has become a premier choice for weddings and receptions, tucked away in quaint Chippewa Lake. Considering the breathtaking views, it's no wonder that it's booked long in advance for weddings and special events — it's hard to compete with more than 140 years of history and charm.

The spacious patios provide the perfect place to enjoy your favorite drinks and al fresco dining while taking in the unique furnishings, beautifully crafted wood floors and stone fireplaces. Brunch on Sunday is relaxing as you watch sailboat racing on beautiful Chippewa Lake. Executive Chef Steven Grande changes the menu seasonally and offers daily entree specials, giving diners a reason to keep coming back — in addition to the extraordinary views and unique history, of course

The Oaks accommodates up to 225 wedding guests in the newly renovated reception area and outdoor patio. Guests can enjoy breathtaking views while you exchange your vows under the Pagoda overlooking the lake.

Whether you're visiting The Oaks to enjoy a freshly prepared dinner with a spectacular sunset or for a special occasion, be sure to take a stroll on the beautifully landscaped grounds and create photo memories of your experience.
