“We have always appreciated fall decorating and enjoyed seeing pumpkins on porches. That is when the spark came - everyone in Texas has a porch - why couldn’t we do that? Realizing that some people have no time or no ideas, it might not be a priority for them. That is where we swoop in and help,” share Shelby and Gina. These two porch fairies pride themselves on their business model to first create a relationship with each client. After a short visit and a look around your space, they will then get to know you - your color choices, your style, your preferences. Then the magic begins!
Using an inspiration point such as a rocker, planter, pillow, or wreath - the Porch Fairies can work with your special inspiration piece and go from special to spectacular by adding and embellishing that single item. They can create with what you already have or make suggestions on purchases to transform your porch into a work of art. Using a local source, Autumn Road at Blue Moon Creek, for pumpkins and decorating with items you already own allows for a wide cost range from budget-friendly to totally upscale. “We love to add pops of color and make it punchy! We can also work with pictures you may have found on the internet.” The more specific a client is, the more it can become an expression of your personal style. Both ladies even admit to having trouble falling asleep after seeing a porch because the fun ideas just won’t stop coming!
And don’t forget about the back porch. The ladies remind us that your back porch is a wonderful extension of your living room. It is the perfect place to gather in the cool weather for a savory fall meal or tailgate food while watching the big game. The Porch Fairies can even offer a snack station to spoil your hard-working delivery people when they visit.
When asked what makes the Porch Fairies unique, Shelby and Gina both agreed that they work very hard to make clients happy. Many of their clients become friends because the love they have for what they do is simply contagious. “We are pleasers and we enjoy the relationships we have developed through our time with clients. As a matter of fact, this doesn’t work at all. It’s just really fun. And the absolute best part is the reveal! We chose the name, My Porch Fairies, because we really enjoy creating a porch when the client is away from home. Then they drive up and POOF! - quite like the big reveals on the decorating reality shows.” Laughing, Shelby and Gina share how some clients who were home were asked to stay inside and cover the doorbell. There truly are so few surprises in life, but there is power in the POOF! “We love feedback. After we have decorated a porch, we will wait for a text from the homeowner or call each other asking, ‘Did you hear anything yet?’” Just like kids waiting for Christmas morning.
