FEPS Red & Black Gala

Public Education Is Free – Exceptional Education Is Not

The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools (FEPS) will host the annual Red & Black Gala at Bearpath Golf & Country Club on April 28th. It is FEPS’ signature fundraising event, where guests will enjoy live music, the country club’s delicious fare, and bidding on one-of-a-kind auction items.

All proceeds from the gala will support FEPS’ mission: to support and enhance the legacy of excellence in Eden Prairie Public Schools by funding grants which enrich students’ lives, awarding scholarships to Eden Prairie High School graduates, and honoring those who make a direct impact on our community.

“I had a great experience attending Eden Prairie’s schools throughout my childhood,” said Charlie Crocker, senior brand manager at Media Bridge Advertising and FEPS board member. “I was the Eagles mascot at events of all sizes for three years. I participated on the ski team, swim team and marching band. I served in student council, DECA and Business Professionals of America, managed the cookie store and girls lacrosse team, and anchored Eagle Vision News. And of course, I appreciated all the advanced academic offerings, too!"

“It wasn’t until I went to college out of state that I realized just how good I had it. Many of my classmates attended expensive prep and boarding schools. By their accounts, my experience in public school exceeded their own by far. The realization that I received something so wonderful – a free, public education supported by a community dedicated to funding unique classroom grants and best-in-class experiences – inspired me to pursue a career advancing progressive issues in Washington, D.C. Now that I’ve returned to sweet home, Minnesota, I’m able to give back to the community which has given me so much."

“The Red & Black Gala is a celebration of everything that makes Eden Prairie Schools great. This is the first live event we’ll have hosted in three years, so we are going all out. We’re looking forward to welcoming over 200 guests for a night of high-end delectable food and drink. (I recommend the Eagles Manhattan, complete with red and black cherries!) Our musically gifted alumni will provide live entertainment. Our live and silent auctions will include a wine wall, where guests can spend a set fee for a surprise vintage."

“The evening will include our Legacy Awards, which we bestow on teachers, school staff members, volunteers and community leaders who go above and beyond changing the lives of Eden Prairie students. We believe it’s important to pause and recognize their incredible contributions toward creating the leaders of tomorrow."

“We have two goals for our gala: treat our guests to a fantastic evening, and raise $15,000 for FEPS. That money will go toward grants, scholarships and awards which ensure excellence in Eden Prairie’s public schools for many years to come.”
