THERE’S A NEW FITNESS SOLUTION IN NAPLES THAT IS CREATING A BUZZ. We sat down with Coach Scott Bogdan of Zoom Fit Naples who is overseeing the introduction of this fitness concept.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE THAT ZOOM FIT WAS A GOOD FIT FOR NAPLES?
Naples has always been an attractive destination for those who are active and health conscious. We spent 2 ½ years developing the final product that we launched in August 2020. The Zoom Fit equipment and programming accommodates every age and fitness level.
WHAT IS ZOOM FIT?
Zoom Fit is an 8-piece full-body strength training circuit (Fit 8) and a proprietary anaerobic cardio workout (Zoom 7). We give our members total flexibility to work out when it’s convenient for them by providing a 24/7 front door access system. Zoom Fit also offers an analytical mobile app that tracks our members’ progress through their performance as well as various medical assessments. This allows our members to monitor all the key indicators of their health rather than focusing merely on the weight from a traditional scale.
FIT 8 (STRENGTH TRAINING) Fit 8 uses the safest and the most intelligent strength equipment in the industry. Each new member completes an onboarding session with one of our Coaches which takes about an hour and a half. Within that time our members are assessed as to their desired workout goals so our Coaches can plug them into the program that will help them achieve those goals. Next, our Coaches take the member through each piece of equipment so they can adjust the machine settings, meet their range of motion capabilities, and perform a strength test. Members are given an RFID wristband that they use to log into each piece of equipment. Once they log into the machine after the onboarding process it automatically sets the seat, bar/pad positions, and loads the selected program and weight setting based on their strength test and desired program. Members love not having to remember all these settings because that was the intimidating factor that kept many of them from ever wanting to strength train until now. Our strength circuit operates on a 110-second cycle and members can complete an 8-piece full body workout in just under 15 minutes. There is no waiting around for a particular piece of equipment because everybody finishes at their station at the same time, so each member moves to the next station in unison.
ZOOM 7 (CARDIO TRAINING) Zoom 7 is a clinically proven anaerobic cardio workout that was created specifically for Zoom Fit. It offers four performance levels from Beginner to Elite to accommodate everybody and is completed in just 15 minutes. Anaerobic cardio is much differ-ent than traditional aerobic cardio where people will run, bike, or use a cardio piece of equipment for 30 minutes or more. In many cases, people participate in cardio work-outs to strengthen their heart as part of their fitness and health routine and we feel anaerobic cardio is the best for heart health. We recommend all members understand their current fitness condition and discuss any concerns with their doctor that they may have prior to beginning any type of exercise program. During the Zoom 7 workout, members will per-form a 60-second warmup on an elliptical machine then move into a 30-second sprint where the heart rate spikes as the program monitor their performance by calculating a Sweat Score - a calculation of their energy output in relationship to the fitness level they selected before they started. After the 30 second sprint, they would move into a 90 second recovery period where we are monitoring their heart rate recovery. The more your heart rate recovers during that 90 second period provides a good indicator of a healthy heart.
WHAT ARE PEOPLE MOST SURPRISED TO LEARN ABOUT ZOOM FIT ONCE THEY JOIN?
That you can get a true full-body strength workout in 15 minutes as well as an anaerobic cardio workout in 15 minutes that can change your life from a health standpoint. Both workouts are self-guided on an interactive screen, so you remain consistent to your workout and you know you are performing it correctly. Members love the ease of use and the integrated Zoom Fit app that keeps them connected and motivated to improve their health and performance.
WHAT MISCONCEPTIONS DO PEOPLE HAVE?
Some of our male members have had some apprehension on whether they could truly get a challenging workout on a “circuit.” They are pleasantly surprised at the sophistication level of the guided fitness programs. By following the gamified user interface on the 15” LED monitor, they know they are performing the exercise correctly.
WHAT RESULTS CAN PEOPLE EXPECT, AND HOW MANY DAYS/WEEKS SHOULD THEY PLAN ON WORKING OUT?
Zoom Fit allows our members to decide what kind of results they achieve. We recommend strength training on our Fit 8 circuit 3-5 days a week. As members get more acclimated to the Zoom Fit concept, they usually fall into the Maintain (1 to 2 times a week), Improve (3 to 4 times a week) or Excel (5 to 6 times a week) categories. We recommend only doing the Zoom 7 every other day in order to give your body the recommended recovery time based on scientific studies.
