Art collectors looking to give their home an elegant gallery feel on a North Boulder property with views of gorgeous foothills was a unique project for local Design Studio Interior Solutions, and it represented a master class in executing purposeful design to bring their clients’ distinctive visions into reality.

“Our firm designs in all styles for our clients’ wishes and needs—what they want, how they live,” says Candace Donnell, ASID and lead designer on the project. “Our job is to bring their dreams to life and coordinate all the materials into a cohesive and desirable design.”

For this project, that meant designing to incorporate numerous diverse elements. Seeking a sophisticated space to showcase their art collection, the homeowners also wanted their home to be ready for effortless entertaining while being professionally functional with individual workspaces seamlessly integrated. The home also needed to incorporate protection from the intense Colorado sun without interfering with its glorious views.

“The clients really wanted to start fresh,” Donnell says. “That included all new furniture, lighting, window treatments and décor.”

The end result is a feat in clean, understated modern design. From the calm and cohesive flow achieved through the home’s coordinated palette to its standout elements that blend high-end luxury with functional livability, the home is a unique, artful oasis.

Working with sister company Front Range Design Center—Boulder’s one-of-a-kind brand and showroom that equips contractors, designers, builders and architects with all their material project needs—the team brought a wealth of stunning design features into the home. A custom built-in kitchen pantry ups the space’s elegance. The dry bar in the living room next to the fireplace, and the workspace with bookshelves in the entryway incorporate pristine quartz countertops into the main living area. All of the furnishings, accessories and bedding were custom-made for the project, and to fulfill the homeowners’ gallery goals, the team installed a sophisticated art lighting system to spotlight the many pieces in their collection.

Thoughtful design details further elevate the home’s character and class. From the Hubbarton Forge light fixtures to the custom plantation shutters (and every inch of maximized, meticulously designed space in between) the home truly takes artful living to a new level.
